There are some people who have a very strong nature and can fight and beat specific disorders. You sound like one of those people Samantha, and I take my hat of to you.
I looked after my mother for 23 years until she died in my arms. No counsellor could help me because I wouldn’t let him or her. I wasn’t listening to anyone. All I was saying is why can this be left to happen, why should my mother die, it’s not time for her to die.
Was I being selfish? Did I want her around longer because I feared I could not handle it when she would ultimately die? In my eyes it just wasn’t fair because she did so much for other without ever asking for anything in return…well maybe a hug and a kiss.
There are some situations that we just don’t have any control over.
I guess some counsellors just ‘counsel’ from a book, then, there are others who counsel from the book and from life experiences.

im on anti depressants still dont know if they work or not some days im ok other days i wonder why i bother trying anymore have given up on alot of things in my life for instance being happy and having kids and owning a home just seems too far away from me

They take time to work mate, if you drink ... get off the grog ... I gave up for 8 months, and now onto my 4th month stretch again. Seek help if you need to, there is plenty of help out there mate.

I was on anti-depressants when I was in High School and was using them for about 3 years. They hadn't done much for me except made me placid and docile. So my Psychiatrist prescribed the highest dosage an individual could have and it still didn't do much for me. I still kept up the counselling; seeing my Social Worker at least twice a week.

I'm not depressed anymore as I have decided to move away from the situation that was making me severely depressed in the first place. Coming from a traditional and strict Asian upbringing and being in a bad relationship at the time didn't do much good for me and I needed a lot of strength to let them not rule my life.

So I know how you're feeling Turtle!! Don't let those situations rule your life as you do deserve to be happy! If those issues do not make you happy then you need to ask yourself if it is truly worth it.

And yes!! There are many people who are there for you babe!! I'm here if you want to talk. Been there done that! Your family and your closest mates are here for you because we love and worry about you!!

im on anti depressants i feel like they are working but there are still days when i get depressed about issues in my life for example job security and money issues and having a family
