Running On Empty

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

I definitely went very different with the BnS and Chicks judging as well as being very specific with the work ute and feral criteria.

Chad: I'll talk to the council this week and see what sort of feedback they got and if they will give me a bigger and better venue next year, with more shade. This year was the test as they weren't willing to give me anything that required paperwork or money changing hands.

Sam: One of the things that generally gets left in the background at ute shows is the food and drink stalls, as many are run in conjunction with rodeo's and ag shows. Ours was run on its own and believe me I tried my hardest to get the local Rotary club and a few other volunteer organisations to run a sausage sizzle etc. Again, that stuff involves council paperwork and permits. However on the plus side, now that we've gotten the first one out of the way and endured the sponsorship drama's, the hassles with getting ribbons done on time and everything else we now have a clear plan on how to make it work better next year.

Thanks for coming to those who made it. All category winners will receive free gate entry at next years event.

hey guys,

congrats to ash adn the crew for a good uteshow.. bloody hot day sittin round on bitumen all day.. thanks to the judges for sticking it out and taking time to listen about the utes.

Thanks to those people who did water and drink runs to the shops and servos.

totally unexpected outsome for me getting ute of the show, 1st time the bravos gotten anything like that, just ented a few cats for shits and giggles, but managed to get the points up.

hopefully see yas all at Lang Lang.

P.S. i was not under the influence of drugs or alcahol that morning! im just a weired and special kinda freak

A few people have asked how we awarded the Ute Of the Show so I'll explain.

In each category we gave points to the first 3 place getters, for example 3 to first, 2 to 2nd and 1 to 3rd, then added up the totals and the ute with the highest was proclaimed the winner.

Also with the best club display, End Of The Bitumen entered 3 utes and a Boot Ute, went to the trouble of setting up some signs a well as each member scoring at least one top three placing.
