| Marine Carpet Tray Liner hey guys i was thinking quite seriously a while ago abbout lining my tray with carpet for shows instead of a proper liner, but the thing that was stopping me was the fact that it would get dirty easy i would have to fart around with tarps to chuck me bike in. then the other day i had a brainwave...MARINE CARPET!! this has obviously been done before and i dont know why it didnt click sooner. this means i can cart me bike and stuff about, and then give it a hose out and a vacuum for shows... what i want to figure out is how to attatch it and mould it so it fits and looks good aroudnd wheelarches etc? what to attcatch it with? double sided tape?glue? silicon or something? im gonna use a heat gun to mould it around the wheelarches so yeah is that the best way? im gonna go for a cruise down to perth on the weekend and checkout some boat and accessory shops to see if i can get some black or red stuff...

| Re: Marine Carpet Tray Liner thats actually not a bad idea at all... nice one expensive for the magnetic stuff? what i want though is for it to be waterproof though, like the carpet will be the actual tray liner. or maybe having it there permanantly is not such a good idea

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Re: Marine Carpet Tray Liner I used to have marine carpet in the back of the old VS... I just used decent heavy grade velcro. Not the sticky stuff.. but had to sew it onto the carpet. Then put the other half of the velcro onto the tray with a decent contact adhesive. The loop (plastic bit) was on the carpet.. and the pile (fluffy bit) was on the tray. I was able to take the carpet out when I had to clean it.. and no problems. Just take your time with the sewing.. and use decent glue.. and not a problem. I was pretty anal about cleaning the old ute so the carpet was in and out all the time, and it kept its sticky really well. |
