Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Gday, I own a 308 HZ ute, and I am looking at improving its performance... its pretty quick on the road, but not too good at traffic lights. I would like to hear any advice or suggestions on how to improve its take off speed, its a 308 vl commodore engine with a 650 holley carb, new genie extractors, a sailsbury diff, 4 speed manual. I got told that if I installed an electronic distributor that would improve performance, install new a new cam "crow" and the heads bored! Any ideas? |

Just asking this because if the motor has done a high milage the cam and lifters could be quite worn. If you do have a rounded cam lobe or 2 this would be the ideal time to look at a good street performance cam. over the years I have built up some good performance 308's and used some of my tricks to stretch them out a bit, I find from experience that they like the try y header setup and a compression ratio of 9 1/2 to 1 with the right camshaft. |
