bug deflecters are definately illegal as i've just had to remove a yellow sticker from the wb and the inspector had a piece of paper stating the reson and its because of them obscuring your vision even though since ive had mine back on ive noticed that my windscreen stays cleaner

Bug deflectors are definately illegal, me and arky should know, we were on our way back from carny and i got stickered for mine (amongst many other things), the dumb arse coppers reason was because they block your vision, but thats crap coz they are see through and where mine is mounted it does not block vision at all. But the real reason they are illegal is because in an accident they can shatter and the shards of plastic have been known to go straight through windscreens. (technically they are illegal on trucks aswell) I have also heard they're illegal coz if you hit a pedestrian they can get hurt by the broken plastic, that 's the dumbest thing i've ever heard, if a pedestrian gets hit by 2 tons of ute they're dead.
and where does that leave headlight and bonnet protectors which are made of the same plastic and can be just as dangerous in an accident.

Ah stuff em all the all jus jealous. They jealous that bug deflectors look better on our utes than they do on wateva they drive.......lol.

Okay then well like olly said they reckon it is illegal which i think is incorrect!! as they reckon that it obscures your vision but obviously the last i heard was you must be able to see at least ten or eleven metres in front of your ute!!! they other day i marked a line ten metres in front of my ute then went to go sit down, and i could see it perfectly clear so i dont see how mine is illegal.. i mean it is apperently under there guidelines once we asked the coppers on the way back from carny!!

the copper that pulled thunder over the morning after inseminators said that bug deflectors were illegal because of the positioning on the bonnet meant that if a pedestrian was hit the metal brakets would be the point of impact on the skull... or something like that!!! he said that they were fine on 4WD because of the height of the vehicles but not on normal 2WD vehicles.. personally i don't see the difference if your gona get hit by a car your gonna get pretty hurt no matter what. moral of the story, don't be a pedestrian or wear a full body suit of armour and a helmet if your gunna walk down the street, or don't play chicken with utes with bullbars and bug deflectors!!!

it seems every copper has his own reason they're illegal, and 'coz none of them know what the're talking about we are the ones that get punished.

yeah true i mean unless he works forensics or sumthin which he obviously dont cos he would be a traffic copper he wouldnt know!!!!

I got yellow stickered a while back, i questioned the police officer if i would need to remove my bug deflector they said no it should be fine but when i took it over the pits they wanted it off.

im not sure if it has been said as i didnt have time to read wha every one had said but in victoria the reason they are illegal is because if you were to hit somebody they dont move or bend and it becomes dangerous but if they were placed on the bonnet so they flexed if hit they would become legal

My mates sister i a copper and she looks at out utes and tells us that the bug deflecter on Daz's hilux (with bull bar and lift kit) is fine as long as it dose not hinder the drivers line of sight... in the end it seems to be up to the copper on the day to wat they pick on ...

my question is when is this Nanny goverment going to stop trying to rap every idiot in cotten wool just coz they can't cross the road safely???
