Question One Tonner to std ute shell

Hi can anyone please tell me is there any differance between a one tonner chasis and a std ute chasis? (except suspention) and will a std ute body fit on a one tonner chasis? and if so are there any mods to be done to it.

Thanks Steve

If it is a ford, all ya do is unbolt the tray, and switch over, as the cab and tray are separate. Dunno about the holdens

FYI
I ahve found out that this can be done it's 6.5 inches shorter in the tail and needs 3 strenghting plates welded in 1 under the cab and 1 on either side of the rear of the cab on the chasis ( stops cracking)

Re: One Tonner to std ute shell

short answer is NO

long answer is yes, anything can be done, the one tonner has the better chassis out of the two, as it is 1 ton rated and the ute is 750kg, however the tunner is 6 inches longer than the ute and needs to be shortened, it is not an overly complicated job as only the tail section is longer so it's only a matter of cutting the back off and re welding the end on. But it's just not bloody worth the effort as good ute chassis can be found for next to nothing (the bonus is that the ute chassis did not rust away as bad as the tunner, because it was sheltered from the elements a bit better especially where the rails run under the back of the cab.)
