Dedicated LPG Compared to Petrol on Falcon Utes

Looking for opinions on the Falcon e-gas engine.
I've been looking at a straight gas Falcon tonner.
A mate of mine is a fertiliser rep and he had one and reckons they are completely gutless.
Looking at the power figures, I can see why. I have no problem dropping some power for the cost savings.
Most of the time I'm just driving and carrying light stuff, but during the busy part of the year, I'll be loading the thing right up.
He reckons the thing to do is buy the standard petrol and then switch to direct injection LPG. LPG fuel consumption either way is the same, but reportedly more power.
Spoke to a fella over here today who does the conversions and he reckons power is much improved over the standard gas. But confirmed that you shouldn't expect better fuel consumption, that still goes down. Cost wise, it won't be a drama either way because you pay the extra for the e-gas engine and with the rebate from the Federal and WA government, I'm only about $1500-$2000 in the whole
I just found it strange that my mate reckons they wouldn't pull skin off custard. I had a 253 HZ and a 327 Chev in a HZ back in the day and neither of them suffered through the conversion to LPG. I wouldn't have said I lost any power, not noticeably anyway.
If it was to work out that I just had less power either way, I'd just live with less power because of the difference in total cost. Just looking at a better way to do things.
Anyone out there with the factory or an aftermarket unit on their ute? What are the results?

Yeah mate ya wouldn't buy one for the race track! I got an Egas BF RTV bout 4 months ago after selling me VS 3.8L ute. They do lack power down low but once revin over about 2 and a half it goes alright. You do need the sports shift auto though especially if ya ever gonna tow anything. That being said, with the amount of $$ im saving on fuel it doesnt bother me in the slightest. On the flats I average about 15.5L/100km. With gas at about 60 odd cents a litre you can do the maths! Cheers.

Re: Dedicated LPG Compared to Petrol on Falcon Utes

up here the price of fuel is at 1.59 per/lt so as soon as i go home im gettin gas hooked up to the old girl!!! and its great that id brought a ute that had gas in it before so it wont be that much trouble puttin it in, but being a 253 its so not gunna be just on straight gas!, and another thing ive heard that if ya just have straight gas in a veacle it hardens the rings in the motor??? well sooner than non gas veacles anyway if anyone knows a bit more about runnin gas, some more info would be great, cheers Ally
