OK fair point i am willing to admit that the infighting and winging dose go on at shows ... but dose Olly concede that his opinion may have changed after reading these posts and realize that the reason for declining numbers at shows is multi faceted and is not just because of the infighting and carrying on by a select few? and dose he see that you don't have to attend shows and know loads about utes and doing mods to cars to be a enthusiast we all lurn as we go along ? My Opinion is that SOME ppl in the ute seen meet and very quickly start live in each others pockets and get far to involved in each others lives ... and this ends up with infighting and bitching and just a general school yard mentality i think some ppl need to get a social life outside of the ute seen and thus keeping it enjoyable to be at a show and enjoy the ppl around you. | Re: The real reason for declining numbers at ute shows I'm not as pig headed as everyone may think, I started this thead and expressed my opinion and I expect others to do the same, whether they do or don't agree with me, I also started it because this forum is getting rather stale. I wanted to show to beaututes members every body elses mentality towards this subject, and as all can see this is working quite succesfully. I think if people read between the lines, There are a certain few that have commented that fall right into the category I have outlined by making derogatory comments. Where as the True enthusiasts have actually shown their colours, by coming up with constrcutive critisism. I hope this post can go on a little longer with out resorting to silly idle threats, and abusive language Cheers BTW What I said about WA is only partially true, I made that comment just to show some peoples abusive nature!! However if you go back and re-read the posts, I made no mention of people having to go to deni every year to be an enthusiast, im just trying to show people in order to be an enthusiast in what ever hobby they may have they need to show a little commitment once in a while. I mean you for instance have a number of very nice utes, take good care of them and enjoy ute shows, because you like your cars and your mates, and that is exactly what it's all about And your abolutely right, if all you have in your life is ute shows, then that would make one very boring person! For instance, as much as I love utes, I also Own an Imported Classic Toyota Supra XX GT2000 Which I am currently restoring, and modifying for Track use. I also have a job which I love and which takes up a huge chunk of my week. As well as many other hobbies and interests. | ||

![]() | Re: The real reason for declining numbers at ute shows I agree 100% on the drinking side of things Olly, and some of the "I'm a hero I drank etc etc" posts that appear on this site really make me shake my head. Yes, I've drank plenty.. Had some big nights in the NT don't worry about that!!! But whenever I'm drinking, I'm still capable of making the RIGHT decisions and I still have respect for others around me (Including the law). (No, Don't drive the car. No, Don't start a fight, let it go. No, Don't damage that persons property. No, don't steal that. No, Don't bend that street sign) I also know my limits. When I've had enough I'll just head home. Some heroes think it's cool to drink until they pass out and spew. How wrong they are! If people can't behave on the grog, maybe it's time they gave it away. And all these heroes who think they're tough because they drank a bottle of rum straight/drank 2 cartons in 4 hours etc... I hope one day that you get the chance to have your stomach pumped, or a bout of Alcohol Poisoning. Then you might learn. Can't comment on the ute muster scene. We don't really have one in North QLD (A few shows, but not many), so be thankful that you have one at all. Cheers Last edited by Dazza_XL; 15-05-2008 at 20:40. |

| Re: The real reason for declining numbers at ute shows I have had my ute for 2 years and lived in the kimberleys when i bought it, i moved to the wheatbelt a year ago and have just discovered ute shows/musters...its a shame that the BIGGEST ute show is in deni when we have the ablilty to hold some pretty big ones here, corrigin for example...we west aussies seem to defend our state to the death but maybe the answer is to support the shows we have and make them bigger and better! i always laugh at grown men bickering about this crap that at the end of day is what you make it...go to the shows have a good time and show off ya precious ute...or not go...so bloody simple! if less of you go i might have a chance to win something hahaoh yeah olly i have 'slapped on a few stickers' to my ute, but that doesnt make me fake or any less a ute lover than you...
