yeah i'm going to agree with most of the people on here and say it is about meeting people yada yada yada BUT i do agree that encouragement awards should be given!
I have a chicks b&s ute that i enter when i can i usually walk away empty handed sometimes it is dissapointing when you get beaten by utes that they obviously haven't done any work on themselves but some shows are better than others so keep ya head up keep smiling and i will see you around

Casey, I go to ute musters for the social atmosphere, the music, the food, the drink, the utes and most of all the people - both country and city. Sometimes I enter, sometimes I don't but guess what i couldn't give a damn if I win or lose, sure its a bonus and i have a lil silver cup taking pride of place. But to be honest it has become the day of the week where I can sit on the back of someone's tailgate or tray and spend all day talking about utes and music and other fun stuff with some of the best people in the world.

I went to my first ute muster in 1982 and 25 years later I still enjoy myself every time, except when I hear people complain about judging. The way i see it, winning is just a bonus and everyone eventually will win something somewhere.

And remember my old motto... Being Australian is not about winning or losing, but the piss up later that night!

it doesnt matter if ya win or not, ur there for the mates, the beers, the shinanigans of the night.
u work on ur ute to make it ur own, unique. not to win all the prizes.

If you pay the money to enter, you kinda expect to be judged fairly...regardless of all the "go to catch up with mates/make new ones" ect.

In regards to what you have said, there are some shows that could do with some guide lines on judging, and I have seen lots in Victoria.

But I have to agree with a lot of others, go and enjoy yourself and when someone says nice ute mate you will get the biggest buzz. . .I know I do. .

if a prize comes your way well done. . . .If not look for other ways that will attract the winning vote. (displays, etc).

i'd be happy just to be further south so i could go to the ute musters and get on tha turps with fellow uters, long way to go for one night but, wanted to do a weekend run to wongan but to much work on
bugger the trophies, like sport, its all about the piss up after the game

i have to agree with most of them mate it aint whether you win or lose. as long as your having a good time with your mates is what counts. i know it can get pretty crappy sometimes with people entering all the categories at a particular show. but i would doubt a bns ute would win feral and ect. mate in the end most people that go over here enter the categories that they have aim towards if its gets as bad as 5 or 6 then they most likely aint there to see mates, winning must be more important.

hey there all
there is not alot we can do about this untill people change. Ive been going to ute shows for seven years and have won a few. The best ones i have gone to are the ones that once you win one catagory you are remove from the others. This lets other people injoy a win. This way it promotes others to take part, often these are people who are new to showing there ute in a show. tho i will always go to a ute show to meet with friends or meet new friends and always to support a got cause, BUT we all go to keep utes and our way of life alive.
