Hi guys,

Im wanting to do up my ute and am thinking of making it really girly, ie, pink streamers off the bull bar (like they do on a kids push bike!) and other various things like that.

So my question is, what do the judges look for when judging a chicks ute? I have tried googling criteria and ive had a look on here, but all i can seem to find is "a ute with a chicks touch, but still appeals to the guys" which kinda doesnt help me alot.

They judge on the same thing as they judge the guys utes
as long as the utes theme is all about you and your passions you will score well
overall presentation of the ute helps, if it is tidy and well set up it will score better then something that is messy
just bolting random shit on won't help, often less is more
i have judged quite a few ute shows and i am of the opinion that if you build a ute to win trophies, it begins to lose its individuality, there is plenty of utes with heaps of pink stuff hanging off it
in my opinion just put stuff on your ute because you like it and not because others expect it

Good answers JB and SoCo. As should be the rule with any modified vehicle competition, use your own taste and build your ute how you like. If you are the kind of person blessed with good taste that others can understand, then you will be rewarded with trophies. Your ute should be a reflection of your personality, not just so it will please others. If it wins trophies, then good. But if not then well stuff 'em at least it's how you like it. I for one appreciate individuality more than trophy winners.

hey hope it works out for ya, i done a blue chicks ute a few years back it won a few things but yeah i had fun doing it... my advice is keep the same color right through and don't forget the engine bay, learn all the parts of the engine as that is frequently judged and go for it

sounds like ur planning to do a few shows... a tip for when u get there... DO NOT LET YOUR MAN (if u have one) ANSWER ANY OF THE JUDGES QUESTIONS. I have seen so many chicks do this at different shows, and trust me, it loses u points.Good luck with ur ute!

i find and my mate finds with her ute that to win chicks ute it needs to be pink and fluffy to even get judged, not many country chicks i know like pink so why cant they judge the ute for a ute not the colours of it

So true... But chicks ute should never be about fluffy pink bits. It should be about the gal's knowledge of her ute, and the effort she has put into it herself, eg. she has fitted the bullbar herself (with help of course, coz bullbars are bloody heavy) and wired up the lights herself, and can change her own tyres and top up her own oil n water. It should represent the type of girl she is, even if she is a total tomboy. Theres quite a nice red themed chicks ute getting around that wins a few, and I think thats great, coz its not just about the pink! But in saying that, if ya love pink, then go for it!
