| Re: Bullbars....Confusion Reins!!!! heres another factor most people have not yet considered, a bullbar, being an attachment, must comply with the australian design rules applicable at the time of the manufacture of the vehicle. Now the so called "bullbar laws", (which have not as yet been passed through parliment and are therefore invalid anyway, but thats another story) came into effect early 2005, so by my reasoning, any vehicle built before this time, and so long as the bar complies with the vehicles airbag sensors etc, IS LEGAL, take for instance my HQ holden to which i am about to fit my famous 5 poster. It was built in 1974 and must comply only to the ADR's applicable in 1974, hence why my ute, can legally be ran on leaded fuel, does not require any emmision regs IE: a carbon canister etc, and can also be run with a big block chev. So at the time of manufacture, regardless of when the bar was built, it is legal to use on this vehicle. now it gets even more tricky, according to my ADR cd which i have infront of me, there were absolutely no regulations on bullbars until 1963, the regs that came into force then were simply, no sharp protusions permitted, so therefore if you had say ..... a 1962 EJ holden for example, you could put the biggest bullbar on that you could imagine, with 3 foot spike out the front, and by rights, it can't be touched as it complies, so there's a bit of food for thought for you all, but all i know, is I WILL NOT GIVE IN TO THE GOVORNMENT, and my bullbar will be reattached to my ute AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN | |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Bullbars....Confusion Reins!!!! Well, thats it. Have had enough of the s**t. Went to Vicroads today to get the bullbar inspected and (hopefully) passed. Did it pass? NO!!! They reckoned that it doesn't follow the profile of the front end of the ute and that it leans forward too much. Ben has had the bullbar on his ute for roughly 13 months now and has never had a problem, but now because of this ONE stupid cop...yes ONE STUPID COP, he has no choice but to take the bar off the ute. Why is it, that even though there are supposed "standards", every cop has a different opinion and can therefore book you for different things? Somehow I don't believe that the standard is kept that "a standard", by the state road rules/regulations. It is kept by the cops and each copper has different views on these "standards", which is just total C**P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is serious. "City" cops, politicians, etc NEED to know how valuable these bullbars are in saving lives and preventing too much (if any) damage to vehicles when they are being driven through country areas. Sure, we now live in Bendigo, which isnt considered "country", but we still do a heck of a lot of driving through roo-country. Once the bullbar has been removed, I can just imagine us hitting a roo at 100km/hr, totalling the front of the ute and facing the possibility of having this roo land in our laps and severely injuring, if not killing us. We have had enough. We are going to start petitioning, writing letters to politicians and people associated with motoring bodies and industries. Hopefully this will be the begining of the end for such strict and unreliable road laws. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and any suggestions as to what we can do and how we can go about things will be great. Thanks

I reckon we should try and get as many ppl on board as possible, coz word-of-mouth goes a long way, and if everyone has even just one contact or knows of sumone that can help, we are gonna have lots of ppl on board! The politicians, cops, etc need to know how we feel. They need to UNDERSTAND why we need bullbars!!
