| FOG LIGHTS This past weekend i got pulled up by the perth coppers...for having my foglights on. I driver everywhere with them on, as it gives a little extra light out to the sides of the main beams and looks cool as hell. But im not one of those blokes that has them on during the day to be a wanker, just use them when my main lights are on. I got threatened with a 100 dollar fine and...wait for it....3, THREE!!! demerit points. When the hell did this bullshit law come into play? I told the copper that it was the first time i had heard of this, and asked him if they were illegal then why wasnt i warned by the dealer about it when bought my ute? so he just told me that they are for use in conditions with limited visibility ONLY, and gave me a slap on the wrist warning. WHY? they arent any brighter than low beam headlights? when did they start picking on us for this?

| Re: FOG LIGHTS yeah it's great isn't it considering all highway patrol VZ commodores have them fitted and are usually turned on during the day, furthermore, the fact that they can come on with the low beams and not just the high beams, actually makes all highway patrols DEFECTIBLE!!!! | |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: FOG LIGHTS ok the law is ... you can have your park lights on and your fog lights on but NOT low beams and fog lights on at the same time... the reason being that with both low beam and fog lights on it exseads the max watt output alowed for low beam... now wat i do is have them all on hibeam and fog lights and dip them when i see a car and as the other car gets closer i tern off the foglights ... now as usefull as they are and yes they do give you a MUCH better side spread at night but i do find them to be MOST ANOYING from a oncomming car!!! and they always have been picking on it i got talked to at rainmakers erlyer this year and a mate got told 3 years ago... they just dont seem to poileace it much..

dont know about WA but in NSW thats not the case. Just because a vehicle has foglights doesn't mean it can be defected if they are mis-used {i think thats what you said, sorry if I misunderstood what you meant} In NSW they must be able to be activated independent of any light (other than parkers) If they come on and off with high-beam than they are technically a driving light and thus are under different ADR's. More info for NSW: under Road transport (safety and traffic management) road rules regulation 1999 - Clause 55a A person must not cause or commit (a) any fog light, affixed to a motor vehicle on a road to be lighted except in fog, mist or under other Atmospheric conditions that restrict visibility. The fine is $77 in NSW (it used to be 75 but went up a couple of months ago) Personally I hate foglights that are used when they are not needed. Any truck driver here will know what unfocused 55 watt lights do to a driver in an elevated postition. That's my rant for today. cheers steve
