The Hoon Laws

Ohk i was just wondering what is your opinion about the Hoon laws im not sure if it is only a west australian based thing of if it is targeted towards the whole country.. Basically if you stuff up and a cop catches you like if your drag racing, cutting up ect he can take your car and impound it and all the rest..... What do you think, have you been affected by it yet?

Also here in SA. I know it's also in Vic too from memory. Definitely has its merit at times with some of the idiots in this world.

I know i was lucky the other day not to have it inforced on me i just lost 3 demerit points and $100 fine instead coz i had a legitimate reson to why i spun my wheels....

I seriously didnt know the gravel was that loose and plus he shouldnt hav even fined me or anything coz he wasnt on duty....

I got away with 'it was wet' once
and a few years ago, i did the whole 'im just an innocent girl' thing... 'I dont even know HOW to do a burnout!' I claimed. it worked...

two years ago to of my mates from school got done for the hoon law for racing on the beach at bremma. also they were drinking so they got done for drink driving.. one of the boys had his old 4wd and the other had his own. it was pretty funny at the time.. they had the vehicles in pounded for 48 hours

Quite honestly I don't reckon the hoon laws are tough enough... and they rarely get used to the extent that they should be because of the amount of time and paperwork that is required.

It's all well and good to introduce these laws, but they need to be properly policed.
The coppers here are never in the right spots to catch them.

I think its a great law. i dont mind people cutting up but there is a time and a place and the time and place certainly isnt when you are heading for traffic on the other side of the road, which for some strange reason seems to happen regularly here in Albany at night time. The drivers down here are mad. and a lot of them have no idea what they are doing but as long as it looks cool then its all good. We have had numerous people down here charged under the hoon law but they dont learn so i agree with 4lnangel it isnt tough enough they need to learn.
