Re: The Hoon Laws

i have heard somewhere that if ya get busted, no matter whose car it is, it gets impoundard and crushd and you get the cube sat on your front lawn. don't remember if it is in aus or in the states but i do believe that would make a good trophy with the 3 strikes policy

Re: The Hoon Laws

okay here's my thoughts on the topic. some of you may agree some of you may disagree but just remember that these are MY thoughts and i know that everyone won't think the same.

i saw a story on 7 news one night where they have hoon laws in the states (LA i think) that if you get caught the third time your car is confiscated and then crushed. i seriously thnk that that is something they should consider for here in australia cos so far the current laws aren't working as people are constantly flouting the laws. i live near a roundabout and there are always ppl doing burnouts around it and there have been several near misses of cars almost ending up in our front yard. i'm yet to see one person pulled over by the cops cos they're never around. now i'm certainly not saying that it's their fault as i know they can't be there all the time. i suspect that the only way we're going to put a dent in the hoons on the road is to go back to horse and carriage!

You are so right there, I work with this chick that chases coppers around town and plays hide and seek with them, she does things that she knows will get her pulled over cause she thinks its funny, she came into work the other day laughing and joking cause she lost her 1 point on her probabtion licence she was on for 6 months she was actually PROUD of herself for losing her licence????? her and her boyfriend in their EVO Wanna Be Lancers thinking they where in the fast and the furious "rolls eyes"

I looked at her and thought what a bonehead I asked her if she thought that was something to be proud off and she just went "meh who cares"

I will remember to wave and beep at her walking to work every day as I cruise by.

I agree the laws are not tough enough!!!

Re: The Hoon Laws

haha as above a mate and me were in town friday morning on our way to the coast, had the ute loaded up with a couple motorbikes and all our gear, went past one of the female cops in the highway patrol car. liked what we saw so passed her in the 90k zone then lead her around for a lil while. she didnt end up stopping us unfortunatly :P i rekon its a bit of fun being stopped when ya done nothing wrong, but then again i can be a smart arse some of the time so yeh.
i dissagree with the 48 hour impoundment, i think its just a joke but i dont know about going to the point of crushing the car. basically alot of the cars are perfectly good pieces of machinery so why not auction them off like the do with other confiscated property. even if they're stripped back to the original car. i just cant see the point in crushing a perfectly good car.

Re: The Hoon Laws

well i have lost my licence for 8 months(7 months now) and got a $1200 fine of reckless driving. was racing one of my mate 2 weeks after i got my new ute. I think it was the stuidest thing i have ever done and when you need to travel 40km to work ever day with no public transport it gets a bit hard. But the worst thing is my mate i was racing still does pissy druving and burnouts ever weekend but i guess somepeople never learn. So theres my story about hoon laws thought someone mite learn from my mistakes.

Wasn you was it mate?

I agree with the hooning laws but i agree with a few they do need to be policed properly, yes they will never be in the rite spots to catch em, but atleast they trying i guess, our taxes are putting our cars away

Re: The Hoon Laws

I think they should just stick with the demerit point system, at least then it's the actual driver getting punished. If you play up to much you can't drive, simple.
I mean half these clowns arent even in their own cars.
Also the cops shouldn't be able to confiscate your vehicle, let the courts decide if you should loose your car, if you've been that bad you'll be in court for wreckless endangerment anyways.
I mean whats next, you have a bit of a piss up at home, the cops rock up, kick you out and demolish your house.
The only confiscation and auction system i agree with is for goods atained through criminal activities, ie when a drug dealer gets raided and they sell all his stuff bought with drug money.
