Truck Stacks and noise complaints

Gday all ive had a bit of a run in with the boys in blue yesterday, they didnt seem to like my truck stacks on a hilux. it has got a muffler in it but is still quite loud. has anyone else had any drama's with the police and fought for their rights etc, i was held up for 45 minutes and he only defected me for noise but didnt put a meter on them or anything. He wasnt worried about no heat sheilds or anything else aka oil leaks, clearence lights, spotties, mudflaps. wat can i do about this, cheers for your advice
Will

Find out your state noise laws, for motor vehicles and then get yours tested and set according to them, if you use a company or rep of some group then you should be able to get them to give you a reciept stating that they are within a certain limit on a certain day, but dont rub it in the coppers nose, that will get you in real trouble...

And make sure you make all the noise you can when testing, then they cant touch you...

This is straight from the horses mouth ( ADR website ) if ya dont wanna read this crap pretty much if ya have an engine thats got 150kw to 320kw the noise limit is between 80dB and 83dB unless if ya vehicle is over 3.5 tonne so yeah dont worry about it

For more ADR's goto http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor...dr_online.aspx
It takes a bit of reading

5.1.2 The sound level limit for M category vehicles with a GVM greater than 3.5 tonnes and an engine power of 150 kW or above is amended as follows: 5.1.2A Paragraph 6.2.2.1.2.2 of Appendix A is amended to read ‘Vehicle categories: with an engine power of 150 kW (ECE) or above but less than 320 kW (ECE) Limit values [dB(A)]: 80’.
5.1.2B A new paragraph 6.2.2.1.2.3 that reads ‘Vehicle categories: with an engine power of 320 kW (ECE) or above Limit values [dB(A)]: 83’ is inserted after paragraph 6.2.2.1.2.2 of Appendix A.
5.1.3 The sound level limit for N category vehicles with a GVM greater than 3.5 tonnes and an engine power of 150 kW or above is amended as follows:
5.1.3A Paragraph 6.2.2.1.4.3 of Appendix A is amended to read ‘Vehicle categories: with an engine power of 150 kW (ECE) or above but less than 320 kW (ECE) Limit values [dB(A)]:80’.
5.1.3B A new paragraph 6.2.2.1.4.4 that reads ‘Vehicle categories: with an engine power of 320 kW (ECE) or above Limit values [dB(A)]: 83’ is inserted after paragraph 6.2.2.1.4.3 of Appendix A.

Re: Truck Stacks and noise complaints

thanks for your advice folks ive been lookin over the adr rulings for it and yeh im gunna have it measured etc and see if i can contest em for doing wat they done. i also found out another ute in town was done on the same afternoon for noise, another bns ute. i was listening to few of the local wog boxes and they are much louder than my ute or the other fellas and they have never had any problems. i think theres something wrong with the force
