| I would like to share with you all an email i have sent to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Alannah MacTiernan and also the Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Tony McRae ( I know!! sounds stupid doesn't it?) Anyway, my first email was handballed straight back to me from Alannah MacTiernan's assistant telling me that Tony McRae is responsible for this area. So here is Mr McRae's email address tony-mcrae@dpc.wa.gov.au. I hope you will all agree with my email I have already sent and send your own comments on this matter to snow ball his office!!!! Here is my email Good afternoon, My name is Josh Barnes and I live in a small country town called Badgingarra, about 2 hours north of Perth. I am writing to express my concern and disappointment over the now illegal use of 5 post bullbars on vehicles, namely on country utes. Last night (27/08/06) I received a yellow sticker on my ute for having a 5 post bulbar. Now I don’t know how often you drive in your own vehicle on country roads, but myself, I do it every day of the year, at various times of the day and on sealed and unsealed roads. My 5 post bulbar is not there as a flash accessory but as a necessity designed to protect my vehicle and its passengers. It has saved my ute from more than a dozen kangaroos in the last 6 months, which in turn has saved my back pocket and also my insurance excess. If I am made to remove my bulbar, I will guarantee that I will collect a kangaroo and do server damage to my ute and also have the inconvenience of trying to borrow a friends car to get to and from work while mine is getting fixed. My next question to you is can you please tell me the difference between the bulbar on the front of my ute and a 5 or 6 post bulbar on a prime mover truck? We all drive on the same roads and have to abide by the same set of traffic rules, so how come a truck is exempt from having the same piece of equipment I require when driving on these roads? My next example is the bulbar/roobars that are currently on the country ambulances and also on the volunteer bush fire brigade trucks. Now these are not 5 post bullbars, but are 4 post roobars that are not that much different from mine. They still have square edges on either side of the roobar and they also lean forward slightly, exactly the same as mine. How can you honestly expect us vehicle owners to conform to these shocking and very vague set of guidelines when they are not mandatory across the board? I hope you will reply to this email to give your view and explanation on this topic. Regards Josh Barnes | |

| Re: My 5 Post Bullbar vs Politician's nice one mate, please post his reply when you get it (if you get one). Will make for very interesting reading, considering that the dickhead known as Harold Scruby called one of my mates a "stupid country hick" after he did the same thing as you...

| Re: My 5 Post Bullbar vs Politician's Thanks Turtle, I hope everyone else will see it the same way and the pollies will change there mind. This is what happens when people sit in a big office in the middle of Perth and make decisions without first letting people express there concerns!!!! | |

Random breath tests and license checks my arse... hes the reason i am not even going to consider getting a bullbar, coz he would be rubbing his hands together with glee...

| Re: My 5 Post Bullbar vs Politician's Yeah I 100% agree with that I've seen some nasty things happen to vehicles that only have the 2 uprights and all they hit was a skippy and I've got a 5 poster going on my ute and I think they are safer than regular ones cos they push the object away instead of pushing it under the car which is just plain old common sense | |
