| Re: Exhaust Stacks i just finished up putting quaddies on my mates '89 hilux. first, we took the original exhaust off the lux. measured it up and cut and bent it so the pipe would run up to the bottom of the tray. found some splitters in my warehouse and roughly welded them to the pipe so we had two pipes hitting each side of the tray. (note: pipe is still 2inch). we then cut two 2.5inch holes through the tray matching up with the splitter pipes. then got heaps of 2.5inch piping and measured them all and cut them exactly the same height, and welded them to the splitter pipes. so far we have four 2.5" pipes comin out of the tray. then we put the stacks over the pipes. theres about a foot between the top of the stacks and the 2.5" piping. we need to get the stacks welded to the tray (we dont have an alloy welder) but we them ziptied on atm haha. the problem with putting stacks on cars is that u lose back pressure with the stacks being too wide, so by keeping the pipes inside, u can drive with enough power but still have the look and a deeper sound with the stacks. petrol would be different. if we did anything different, is somehow mount the piping to the inside of the stacks so they dont rattle haha! so yeh i might be able to get some pics next time i see it. took us a weekend.
