Redflag RM Williams Mud Flaps

Hi

I just got myself an early Christmas present and have got a set of RM Mudflaps for the ute.

Question is........
I'd like these to be the same "colour theme" as the ute. I already had a custom made bull horn in a baby blue/light blue colour and would like to get rid of the red/brown colour on the mud flaps (keeping the white background) replacing the red/brown with the same blue colour as my sticker on the back window. - The idea being when you look at the ute from behind all the colours match (Blue & White).

I've seen a few utes around at shows with other coloured RM Mudflaps (such as pink on a couple of chicks utes)

Has anyone done this? Or have suggestions on how we can go about changing the colour to Baby Blue/Light Blue?

Thanks

hey mate .go to a custom car shop or panel beaters or a car upholstery shop, there are places that repair car dashboards and repair modern car bumper bars, there are people in vans that go on site to do repairs and repaint .you will need a special paint.when i worked for a windscreen company for seven years we called on them a few times .cheers cary+crickey

Re: RM Williams Mud Flaps

Thanks for your ideas - We did look into getting vinyl paint but at approx $50 for about 500 mls plus it needed to be srayed on wasnt really economical

We settled on just Acrylic House Paint from Dulux - Got two test pots and were lucky to have used 1/2 a tub. Did about 3 coats and so far it seems to be doing the trick. - Thats not to say it wont eventually crack or wear off (time will tell) The muddies are now mounted and look pretty good - I only wish we didnt lower it as now the muddies are too close to the ground and do the odd scrape on uneven road surfaces... Never mind!

Thanks again - I dont know how to post pics up so if anyone wants to see a pic let me know (or can post one up for us that would be great?)

sorry to tell you but yes it will crack cos of acrylic paint isnt hard wearing on such things as mud flaps house paint is only good for useing in side a house you would of probley be better off going and getting some paint that is good to go on rubber and it will stick to rubber cos house paint wont stick that well to rubber

Re: RM Williams Mud Flaps

Thanks will see what happens when/if the paint starts cracking - but yeash will probably just go over them again to tidy them up.

At this stage anyway, so far so good no cracking... yet......

We took the tow bar off - We had to take it off cause there was no room to get in and mount them with the tow bar on... there possibly is a way, I wasnt too bothered about taking the tow bar off anyway

Have since taken the muddies off the ute, got too pi$$ed off with them dragging and if I cut them shorter they'd be nothing left of them as the ute is lowered.

They now hang proudly on the wall at home
