Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Hi everyone I'm in the process of doing up an old ute. 1978 Holden HZ. I'm wanting to keep the body clean of stickers, but adding a few bits and pieces. An idea I though of was getting a HELLA non rotating beacon and setting it up in between the front seats (they are bucket, not bench) and enable it so I can have a remote to turn it on and off... The reason being, it would be something different and it would help me find my car in the dark... Number one, is this possible? Number two, what do you guys think? Not a good idea? Can be defected? Sounds stupid? For obvious reasons, I would not have the beacon on all the time for safety sake, but the light that it would throw would be enough to spot it. Plus I don't really want to mount it on the roof incase of vandals... |

| Re: Beacons on Utes Hey BundyDrunk, I have heard of this before and have seen it done using an imobilizer button to activate and turn off, always a good way to find ya car after staggerin out of the pub and saves a rude awakening when you accidently fall asleap in the back of someone elses ute unknowingly. instead of a great big beacon stuck inbetween your seat why not opt for say a bright L.E.D. display in the back window of your ute, sorta like what undercover cop cars are using in there back window? the blokes i'v seen doit have had there undercar neons, strobe lights, stereo, all sorts of things hooked up to them. you can even hook up a neon bundy sign in your back window..... if you instal a remote locking reciever and just use the activation wire as a signal wire for a relay you can run anything off it, side runners, strobes, high liners, neons, beacons, floor well lamps and if your real kean even use to jack and lower your suspension.... always looks cool. if you intend on doin the work yaself or getting mates to help out it isn't as expensive as it seams, pick up a remote central locking unit for 25 bux from descent wrecker, if you get a late model one, they come with 3 buttons usually at least if off a sedan, a lock, unlock, boot, and sometimes horn... could use the lock and unlock with a set of door actuators for your ute to style it up a bit, and the horn to turn lights on, and boot to turn lights off?? few ideas for you anyway. good luck.. Trav. | |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Beacons on Utes Gee thanks Trav, not a bad idea the neon, the Bundy sounds pretty darn good!!! I'm not good with tech stuff so I'd probably get someone to do that part... I figured it could be done, just a bit fiddly |
