| Re: Setting up the ute and the law ... Help please Got a tip for ya trashy Just go in a ute with no hugely obvious mods, For example Neet reliable holden/ford ute, mags, cd player, single uhf an areil with it behind the cab- a small 30cm ariel will give you plenty of distance if you match the ariel to the conditions u plan on using it. Put mudflaps behind the tyres, where they are intended to go and make sure they have no sharp edges and are more than 100mm from the ground. Dont even bother with spotties on the roof mate. your gunna get pinged no matter wat state your in or where they are mounted. remeber any light that is not mounted on the front of the vehicle unless its a work light which run off an independent switch only operated from the engine bay. My advice- get a canopy and kit out like billys planning on doing. cheers sharpy n good luck with the trip trashy

yeash the gmeAE4706's are the way to go for big flat country like the simpson desert but not as effective in a hilly area as a elevated feed one. and the grunt of the 350 chev infront would make the trip so good!

Help please yer it's good to have the power to blow past road trains and old grampar with the campervan ...lol Thow i dont really wont too ... im prob going to have to pull a trailer but with a good remap of the computer and a fine tuning should still get a good 550k to a tank ... but im just looking for info like speed camra detectors and other odd ball laws that may be differant to WA like you can have spottys on the roof just aslong as there mounted above if not fwd of the driver in wa atleast ...

I say 550k to a tank based on the WORST feul consumshon rate in fact it's more like 600k to 650k a tank thow i have goten 700k out of a tank and will get evan better kays after i have it dyno tuned wich will give me better power and way better feul ecm and if i base the fuel cost of the trip on 550k a tank ill get a lot futher than planed and have more cash to play with when im driven around, and i wont end up stranded on the side of the hwy out of gass ... concidering the tanks in the ss ant that big conperd to your long rang tanks in ya cruser you would probably find there about the same and concidering im running a 350 not a 6cyl that ant bad and through a cupple hills at the crusser and ya feul rate is stuffed ... just like the reason you dont like taking the "seenice way " to waroona and why the 4x4 are always at the back of the convoy ... and as far as going more places yes ya right but you know i ant afrad to take me ute places most ppl would think twice about ... lol lol and it dont cost that much to higher one for a few days if im that keen to go off road ... so ill be keeping the ss for now thankyou ...
