Canopy Lights - mounting or fixing

Hey all,

yeah, I got a canopy, lol
( OK, I needed it for carting stuff securely, that won't fit under a tonneau or hard lid )

But wait...How did ya mount ya lights on the canopy ?

When I say lights, I mean like bull lights, not clearance lights, cos they're an easy job

Maybe Woohaha, or PursuitUteLee, can help.

Was thinkin of two ways, either a Rhino Rack, and mount to it,
or two bits of checker plate, to sandwich the canopy, and bolt the lights straight into it.
If I get it right, I can also put in a tray or rack, up high, inside, on the same anchor points, for stuff like a DVD screen etc.

Watcha reckon? Or is there a betterer way?

Having a look at this shot, they seem to be bolted thru the canopy.
But ask Josh, he will explain better no doubt.

Cheers

the checkerplate idea might be the go....but be warned with teh roof rack that you will more then likly get vibrations with just one rack.

Re: Canopy Lights - mounting or fixing

yeah, ta for info ideas ppl,
could do a double rack to get it rigid, off the roof, but...there aint no gutter rails on a VS, ...soooo....looks like I might go with checker plate, or smooth plate, straight on the canopy, ...ahh decisions, lol

Re: Canopy Lights - mounting or fixing

I know. was just saying tho, that i dont get vibration with just one roof rack, so its definitely a do-able option.

Re: Canopy Lights - mounting or fixing

yeah the problem with the gutterless is you can't do them up tight enough to get rid of the rock in them...they do do a rack that is more "fixed" to the roof that would be idea though...all that is left when you take it off is a small black panel.
