Notgood xf falcon brakes

G-day all,

I am new to this forum, and having a little problem with my ute...

Dont really know much about the brakes and such, but i noticed my handbrake does not work anymore, it now seems to not slide smoothly and worst of all.. i cant get the handbrake off.. i can puch it down as far as i go but it wont go down as far as it used too.. i also tried to move with it.. i got it about 10 metres but now it seems that the back wheels have locked up? .. is their anyway to fix this? as it is stuck in the middle of the paddock (haha) and i cant move it .... i had a look at the handbrake under the dash and it seems that the roller/pully seems fine and everything else?

any suggestions ??

Thanks....

Samuel Abbott...

Re: xf falcon brakes

hi there is a cable that might be frayed inside the casing stopping you from useing the hand brake, if it is you will have to pull the cover off undo two bolts under the dash and three on the floor to remove hand brake, also under the drivers side of the ute there is a conection for the hand brake. undo the split pin and take out the small pin that will release the hand brake hope this helps cheers David

Re: xf falcon brakes

ok ... ive made progress, pulled apart most of the dash. found that the wire does not feed correctly back into the hole.. and cant seem to get it to slide back in smootly... but i was happy to see that i got the brake indicators off.. but sadly they are still on...'

is this caused by frayed cord?

Re: xf falcon brakes

hey.. found the problem out a while ago.,
it was staring me in the face..

The little arm under the ute whereabouts the door is that pulls the brake and handbrake.. well that little arm was caught on a bit of metal which was attaching the body to the car, must of hit a big stone or something, but she jammed her in the on postition so when i was moving the handbrake, the wire was just coiling over as it had nowhere to go. haha..

ahwell..
.. thanks for all the help.

Re: xf falcon brakes

if u wanna get the XF back home, jack the arse end up and pull the wheels off to get to ur hubs, remove the calipers and drive back home, or remove the hand brake cable from the calipers.

WARNING::: THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP VERY WELL WITH NO REAR CALIPERS!!!

Re: xf falcon brakes

Thanks Yowie, But i already fixed the issue, althought that may have been handy to get it back into the shed.. instead i just hammered it in reverse to the shed, used alot of fuel...
