Putting electric ignition on 202 red motor

Rep Power: 1   |  Putting electric ignition on 202 red motor Gday does anyone out there know what the deal is with sticking electric ignition from a 202 blue motor onto the red one in my HZ? After picking up an electric dizzy I rang up coventrys looking for a coil and they asked me if i had a resistor. Whats a resistor? |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Putting electric ignition on 202 red motor The resistor is already built into the elctronic dizzy. The other thing you will need to do is put a brass drive gear on the distributor to suit a red motor as the blue one is plastic and does not match with the red motor cam gear.

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Putting electric ignition on 202 red motor We spent 30 years racing with these baby's and the one day I trusted someone else to fit a dizzy was the day it had the wrong gear on it. I was not a happy camper when I pulled the sump off and foundlittle bits of metal everywhere in the oil... not happy at all!!

I had planned to put a GT-40 RT coil with an electric distributor (off a blue 202). Will the GT 40 RT work with elecric ignition? Or do I have to get another coil? Thanks, Pete.
