howdy mate my advise is to look at a ute thats going to be practal for a start like if ya gunna do lots of bush drivin i suggest a 4wd but if ya wanna get somthin cheap try lookin at the old hz, wb,hq holden utes or somthing like that coz u can start from scratch wif them but they can be a headache at times once its done up ya laughin but in the end u pick out somthin u like or catches ya eye cheers Ally

Re: need help selecting a ute

all depends on what you like i picked my hz ute up for $3500 its only done 210'000km since the motor was rebuilt as ally said the hz and wb would be the way to go easy to get parts for them too at the wreckers

Re: need help selecting a ute

it all depends what ya like mate
if ya like the old holdens then they are always good
but if you prefer a newer ute such as a vs or an au they are always good for reliability and fuel economy
then again ya can't go past something like a hilux
its all about personal choice mate
whatever ya get remember the newer the car the better reliability you will have as a general rule\

Re: need help selecting a ute

Early X series falcon or hj thru to wb. Easy to work on, reasonably easy to get parts for. As has been stated chances are an old ute will not be as reliable but you also get what you pay for. In the end tho it has to be what you want not what someone else says to buy
