Question truck stunts

i was havin a debate with the guys at work today so i figured i would put it out there and see what people think

i believe that its possible to take a b double and do a complete circle broadside

to clarify the truck must be a double loaded or unloaded and put into a spin where the the trailers slide sideways around the prime mover is it possible for it to do a complete 360

Re: truck stunts

Theoretically it would be possible, though I probably wouldn't recommend trying it.
The key is speed + momentum. The difference between getting a ute sideways and a b double sideways, is of course that a b double has two pivot points in it's length and a ute - unless there are some serious rust issues - doesn't. So, what we need is speed, and lots of it, to keep everything in line.
In a rather beaut-utes-country-style analogy, imagine you are trying to spin a stockwhip (or lasso if you will) above your head. Try doing it slowly and it wont work, the whip (or rope) will flex along it's length and you will get all tangled up and make a **** of yourself. But get a bit of speed happening and everything stays in line, pivoting around the centre (your hand) - which on our truck, would be the front axle.
The biggest risk that I can see, assuming of course that this is not being attempted on a quiet, narrow suburban street, is the probability of the trailers to prefer to roll, rather than slide sideways at high speed. It would have to be on a perfectly flat giant skidpan or something 'cos I reckon even a stray stubby lid on the ground would be enough to send the whole show into an impersonation of a 44 gallon drum going down a hill.
Nonetheless, yes I believe it could be done, and that sooner or later, some crazy bastard will do it, or have done already. Apparently there is heaps of footage of truck testing in crazy slides on You Tube but I can't watch it with my crappy two-tin-cans-and-a-piece-of-string dial up internet connection.

shooey this is exactly the theory i am workin on speed keepin everything in line

some guys at work said its been done but every time was deliberate but unable to replicate the feat for cameras we spent 7 hours debating this with truckies got some sayin yes some say not possible

Re: truck stunts

That's not the point. The point was "would it be possible", not who is going to finance it. Heaps of people seem to have more money than you and me can comprehend. Plenty of the stunts that you see in movies and stuff would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars just for that one take for a few seconds of footage. This stunt, provided nothing went wrong, would cost peanuts by comparison.

Re: truck stunts

true so all we need to do is write a movie with that as one of the scenes and convince warner bros to give us a few million
