Actually Troppo, you are welcome to take a look at the judging sheets, as are all other entrants from the Town & Country Ute Show. There are no secrets and no hidden agenda's with the judging. No organisers, judges or family members were allowed to enter and everyone was told at the time what they were being judged on.

Did you enter the show or even go at all?

What's the difference between the boyfriend doing it and the local mechanics? And also because the boyfriend is standing behind the the girlfriend or the ute does not mean that they did the work... I do not own a ute, but I do know a few girls that have had their utes way before the boyfriend was on the scene - but he still hangs around the ute at judging time just to support their girlfriend. If a chick hangs out beside their boyfriends ute as it's getting judged does that mean that she did all the work on the ute? Just a little food for thought - not having a go...

At some shows, signage will get you the win even if you don't have any tools or equipment on board.

After reading all the comments there should be a(one and only) booklet written up by someone thats been judging for years or someone involved in the deni ute muster comm. not that i know any but it is the world breaking ute muster, (that is sold for an amount thats goes to the farmers that are in a drought areas), that anyone holding a ute muster or starting one up should be using to judge

I work for a company that owns and pays rego for the ute, its been in the company since brand new 1994. There is no signage as the company mainly does commercial jobs and the boss does not want to run arround and do piddely job quotes thats not worth looking at from people getting Ph# that they see on the ute. I asked the boss to do some singage and he gave me this as the reason to why he wont.
I loose points at every show for not having visable signwritting on the outside of the ute.

And it goes to work every bl00dy day ready for work on whatever job I need to do!!!!!!

There should be 2 work catogories 1: Work horse (carry's tools and equipment and
not afraid to get dirty)

2: Promotional (artwork, signage neat and spotless)

As a fellow genuine work ute owner Haylee (and Jason), I know how you feel, especially when you see certain utes that have never done a day's work in their lives winning comps because they have a few stickers placed conveniently.

This is why I decided to ask people what their thoughts are.

At Mansfield on the weekend, I had my laptop, camera and mobile phone (tools of the trade), a dozen magazines with articles I'd written (proof of trade), business registration certificate, 3 first aid kits, fire extinguisher, uhf, cb, official paperwork, tool box full of tools and didn't even come close to running a place. Fangs had even more stuff in both his utes along with signage, business cards and flyers and didn't run a place in work ute either.

I don't have signage on my ute for the same reason as Haylee - could you imagine how many people would be emailing me and ringing me to try and get their car/ute/truck in a magazine. That's why I go to shows, to find the best vehicles without having every man and his dog send me 700 emails a day to get their mini spooled stocko VN Commodore into a mag. I don't have signage for my mowing business because I have a set amount of clients that fit into my schedule and don't need to advertise any more than that at this point in time.

Something i dont understand about "Best Chicks" or "chicks" is how do you judge it?
how do you judge a bns/town ute agenst a street ute ???
why should a bns get higher points for bullbars, spottys, arials, stickers and mudflaps and there for win over a nicly restord old FB or worked ss commy with a custom paint job and int work dont to it...
they two diffferant classes so wouldnt it come down to the judges personal prefrance on the day?
