Personally I prefer to call him Father Christmas, the old English version and not the Americanised version which seems these days that most Australians and the Australian Media refers to him as these days "Santa Claus"

Think I always referred to him as Father Christmas to my daughter when she was little, think I sometimes now refer to him as Santa. Sorry, memory ain't to good. But while we are at it, what about ol' Saint Nick or Kris Kringle, both also acceptable terms?? Personally I don't think it matters what you call him, more important to allow kids (and adults) to believe in him, makes christmas that bit more exciting!!
