Re: Auto Or Manual?

My ute is a manual and I wouldn't have it any other way but my patrol is auto, I would have prefered a manual but the auto is great on the beach and you don't get much choice when you buy second hand.

Re: Auto Or Manual?

I like both. I learnt to drive in a Series 1 Landrover, with a 'crash gearbox', (no synchro) meaning you had to double clutch, if you wanted to go anywhere. But then ya get older, and you tell yourself, "I've earnt cruise control, air con, and auto". Both have good and bad points.

Re: Auto Or Manual?

Has to be a manual
Drove an auto once and took the footoff and I think it went faster
You can't double clutch and downshift in an auto so no nice exhaust notes
Has to be a manual although finding one isn't a walk in the park

I have a friend who has always been terrified of driving on the road (she can drive out bush no dramas) and when I finally talked her into getting her license she found it really easy, even reverse parking a landcruiser! All it takes is practise... you know how the saying goes....

Re: Auto Or Manual?

How could you not learn to drive a manual??? Fair enough there were more than enough tears on my part learning and I did several times get out of the car in the middle of intersection's in Freo (Stock Rd and Leach Hwy was the best!) refusing to get back in because I had stalled it! But you just can't beat having full control (gee that sounds seedy!)

Re: Auto Or Manual?

i learnt to drive in a manual when i was a little tacker, like 10. But when i went for my license i had 2 weeks to get up to speed on a manual again, too hard, and im lazy. So i just got my auto license.
Definitly easier to drive an auto in the city though. But when im out bush, i just drive a manual anyway
