LOL, now that`s funny , there`s no beta feel than running your ute thru the gears , it`s manual for me , but my wife has current shape Magna , and thanx to Utegirl70, and Magnaboy I have been playin with my wife`s "tiptronic auto" , that`s alot of fun too ! Also at work I drive a 465 haul truck , that`s 800HP. in front of a T Bar auto , that`s a pleasure to drive , but hell it can be boreing , if jamming gears is a fever , than I`m a sick man

Better burnouts and circle work in a manual, ive owned more manual utes than autos, even changed a couple of autos over to manuals ( the good o'le days in kingswoods), but sometimes when you just wanna cruise an auto seems so easy goin, and if you ve got the grunt there who cares, id never buy a four banger auto, but a v8 yeh no probs

I learnt to drive in a manual, but the ute i own now is an auto. I'd rather a manual, but hey, i cant have everything!! I can still chuck sum pretty sik shit in it but!!! With a rear wheel drive falcon ute u can do just about anything (trust me, i've tried!!) Going from a stop to full out fangin, the two front tyres are off the ground for bout 6 metres! looks good but!

Manuals are better, MOST of the time,
Whoever reckons manuals are better for cutting up and skids is crazey and talkin crap. The only real advantages of manuals over autos is the note, and the satisfactoin of being able todrop her back a gear. At first i hated my autos, but now can see benifits after driving thru town again in a manual. The worst thing about an auto is the take off, coz if ya hold em to tha floor they rev their guts out

I drive a manual, and wouldnt change it, but i must say the 5th gear doesnt get much use when driving round town, and last time got pinged by the speed camera

yup definitely manual. it's safer and it saves a lot on brakes. many ppl u see hit the brakes a fair distance away from where they need to stop so that they can slow down in time. i hit the brakes much later because i shift down in gears.(plus the added bonus of an exhaust brake) so i probable brake 50m or less(but it also depends on how fast you'tre going too.). Not only that but a manual gives you more control over your car. Personally i think manuals perform better too.

prefer a manual but I do alot of city driving so the auto is good, standard auto's are usually rubbish but the shift kit kicks ass!

I learnt to drive manual, first old buzz box was a manual, switched to auto for a year and was bloody glad to get back into another manual! Transmission was one of the things at the top of my list when I went looking for a ute, and it took me a while to find a good one!

Have to admit though, it was a bit annoying when it came to peak hour in the city! I'd get some pretty hairy looks when I left about 2 car lengths til I moved up the line... guess they must've thought you can get somewhere faster going bumper to bumper all the time!

both my old cars were manual, and i love manaul cars there is nothing beta than being in controll of ur own car, my mother has an auto and that is bloody shocking to drive.

Work VY is an auto, and I wouldn't have it any other way (although I can't wait for it to be traded as it doesn't have cruise ) Poking around town auto is great. When your knackered auto is great. When its a V6 auto is great. However when you have a thumbing V8 are require that lovely sounding upshift or downshift, manual is freakin awesome! hahhaha.

I must say I don't quite see why people don't like automatics. Just get in and put your foot down, sure you can't control is as well as a manual rev wise, but then if you need to be controlling the revs why the heck did you buy an auto?! Aftering driving around all week in an auto, getting back into a manual V8 is fantastic (makes driving the ute so much nicer after having a break from it too), however come monday again the auto is lovely too.

well my vectra is an auto but all my other cars have been manuals.... i do like manuals heaps better but auto is for ppl like me slackers... just put the cruise control on an off we go hehe...

Well, i always hated autos - with a passion actually. But when I bought the RTV I got an auto.... I don't mind it. But the manual in the Falcon was pretty crap. One thing I hate though is Diesel Auto's. Why have all that engine brake and not be able to use it.
