Well, lately I have been thinking of the possibility of having BeautUtes.com become a proper Australian wide Ute Club.

This has also been suggested to me by other site members!

My plans are it will be still free to sign up to the site, but you will be very limited to what you can view at the site, such as follows:

Free Members:
They will only be able to view limited topics such as upcoming events, photos and a couple of other topics. and posting capacity at the site would be limited.

Paid Members:
Will be able to view everything except for password protected areas in which case will have to ask for passwords for this area.

Paid Members will recieve at this stage possibly a BeautUtes.com T-Shirt, A nice Unique Members Only Sticker, and key ring. (Idea Only)

The reason I am doing this is because of the amount of people signing up with fake email addresses, the amount of members who never come to the site, and obviously the amount of people who originally wanted to go into the footy tipping comp but backed out.

I am unsure yet of the membership fee, but it will be a once off lifetime membership fee and it will be enough to cover the cost of the tshirt and other goodies.

Please put forward your ideas, or what you think and vote in the poll if you'd be willing to become a fully fledged member of the site?

I am not doing this to make money, but just to create a better website with dedicated members.

Well this sounds like a good idea but, what price are we looking at? (roughly), i dont mind either way and yes im sure it would help alot of problems that happen on this site. So im saying yes, i dont mind having to pay a once off fee.

Sounds good billy, but why would Paid members be required to request passwords. I belive if you are paying to be a member of a site that should be enough proof you are fair dinkum, and recive full access to all site areas.

I have to be honest with you - I'm not sure it will work and I would hate to see the success of Beaututes go backwards. In particular the paying a fee for access to the majority of the site.

As for being a national ute club - many of us already claim that we're part of the Beaututes club so I don't really have any comments on that part.

Unfortunately I think fake email addresses, non posters and irregular visitors to sites are just part of being on the internet and having a website.

If you decided to enforce the above I would pay the fee to keep in touch with friends/acquaintances but I know it would deter MANY from enjoying the full Beaututes experience and I think that would be a pity.

I don't mean to be offensive in any way but I do believe its important for everyone to think about the positives and negatives of such a move.

Here are my thoughts and I do hope that I do not offend anyone because that is truly not my intention.

I would love to see BeautUtes become a club because we basically are one already, we have meets, go to shows, have stickers on our cars – which is basically what most clubs do already.

However, for the fourms I do like having most of it open for all to see. Yes, do have some sections that only members can see and get into, but I like the rest being open to all.

Yes there are lots of people who sign up and are never seen again, but that is normal, and you can have a clean out of unused accounts every now and then. But not everyone can afford to become a member, no matter how low the fees are.

Someone mentioned state groups, having someone in each state to handle the merchandise – if people are willing – would save you a lot of postage cost and members too. I love merchandise.

So there’s some of my thoughts.

Hmm tough one Billy......Good idea, but like Gem said you'll get people who won't want to pay to be involved so it'll deter them.

Are you able to look at the site visiting list sorta thing mate? Like theres that bit that says who has been on in the last 24hrs.......those name that appear regularly in there each week will be the ones happy to pay up.

Then I guess theres also members who for some reason or another might be regulars one month then due to work are unable to get back on site for a while etc.

I think it's a great idea but might turn a few people away.

There could be a way that you can set the site up as to

Non Validated Memebers which get access to limited parts of the site and

Validated Members which you have to buy a sticker or in someway support the site which then gives you access to the whole website.

The price would include an official Polo shirt! If you wear that shirt to musters, then you would be known as an official member of the site.

It would probably be approx $50, which would include a tshirt with the logo on the front and back, and a nice "Paid Members" sticker.

That way you can wear your tshirt to musters and be proud that you are a proper member.

I am not to worried if it deters members, thats what it is all about, to find the dedicated members and they would have access to certain parts of the site where as other members dont have that priveledge.

Also looking at getting flags made up as well!

Its only an idea, thats all.

I reckon we all get it pretty good here.
We can upload our ute photos, as well as lots of other piccies for nothing (Which would require web hosting, and the costs for server space)
The site is constantly being improved and upgraded by Billy and Mark.
We have a classified section. Anywhere else you would have to pay to advertise!
We even have a singles section!
And we have a bloke called Billy whom is dedicated to maintaining and upkeeping this website!
And we all seem to get along!
I reckon its worth every cent if you ask me!

True True, not everyone can afford fee's.
I'd hate for some dedicated members to miss out because of money.

Having a user account timeout period for members not using the site, may tidy things up a bit.

I think visitors should only have restricted access, but still made inviting for them to join up.
Merchandise can always be on sale for members.

If we do go the $50 fee, I dont mind, Im keen as.
I'd wear my shirt with pride and fly my flag high.
I always wanna be a member as far as im concerned, I love it.
