Exclamation Heavy Equipment Courses (Mines)

I am looking at getting these tickets before I leave the Navy:

Dump Truck ( CAT 773)
Excavator 35 Tonne
Front End Loader

Units of Competency

Blend Stockpile Materials
Conduct Dozer Operations
MConduct Front End Loader Operations
Conduct Grader Operations
Conduct Loading & Hauling Support Equipment Operations
Conduct scraper operations
Conduct shovel/excavator operations
Maintain Stockpiles

My Questions to any one on the mines out there!

Would I need to do all these 3 courses (or any others) to make myself 'Competitive" for potential jobs on the mines, such as Open Pit etc

Or would it be wise just to one or the other?

I am not worried about course costs, because I get funding towards them from the Navy.

Also has any one got any contacts high up on the mines? Not for jobs, but for information I need to get?

Thanks in Advance

Re: Heavy Equipment Courses (Mines)

hi billy have you tried any mine web sites.it might be easier if you apply for a job inthe mines there then work and then try to transfer to heavy ore truck driveing i think a semi or b double truck licence wil help you,way back when i was working in the bauxite mines in weipa.all you needed was a normal car licence.but things have change over the years.we where driving euclids.cats.all over 150 ton copatasity.i work in the heavy equipment service department and we use to drive up to d 10 dozers 18 g cat graders plus the big push and pull cat scrapers(twin moters) as i said if you get a job in the mines first it might be easier.the mining companys would have heavy equipment operating courses anyhow .hope thats helps you billy ..cheers cary
