Christmas is nearly upon us and soon we will be inundated with Christmas Propaganda! Santa Claus this and Santa Claus that! Well I say to you all, its not bloody Santa Claus.... its bloody Father Christmas! I have a new website www.SaveFatherChristmas.com and I am calling for the removal of Santa Claus from our Aussie, Kiwi and Pommie languages and asking for all people Non-American to refer to him in front of thier children as Father Christmas from now on, because I am sick of Americanisms being introduced to our proud societies via movies, media, text media and so forth!! I am also calling for the Australian, UK, New Zealand and other commonwealth media organisations to say Father Christmas when referring to the big fat guy in the red suit with the long white beard as Father Christmas and not bloody Santa Claus! I am asking for you to visit the site http://www.savefatherchristmas.com/ and get rid of Santa Claus from your americanism brainwashed vocabulary and start bringing your kids up on Father Christmas and never, ever, ever use the term Santa or Santa Claus in front of your precious children of Australia, England and New Zealand! Just wait and see ... when Christmas advertising starts to hit us via Television ads, Radio Ads, Media Ads and so forth, never once will those ads refer to Father Christmas ... it will be the Americanised version of Santa Claus .. and I know when you hear it, you will be reminded of this email and the website SaveFatherChristmas.com! Please spread the word about SaveFatherChristmas.com to all your friends on your email lists, myspace accounts, blogs and so forth! We need to all unite and stand up for Father Christmas!  Sorry the site is a Parody site, but to me sends out a message to people about how we are losing our language to Americanisms. I admit I do use Americanisms on occasions without even realising, but thats normal I suppose, but I do hate seeing how Aussie kids these days only know father christmas as Santa due to the media etc. It saddens me.

Rep Power: 3 | Re: Save Father Christmas! billy...sweetie...i think its time we had *That* talk about fantasy .... thats what santa is babe! its up to the child decide who she will call nanna and who she will call grandma ect ... so therefore i firmly believe that it is up to the child to decide what they call their christmas time cheer. i dont believe that it is being "americanised" im just as much an aussie as the next person, children just have the right to have their christmas cheer the way THEY want it ... not the way an adult wants it after all isnt christmas about family and children? |

I agree with u Swamp, as a mum of 3 liluns, seeing there joy at christmas time, lights, decorations, "santa", makes me feel like a kid again, if they choose to call him santa, then that's there choice! Personally i prefer Santa to father christmas (& try explainin to a 4 yo why he is called "father" christmas, but isn't there father!) Considering alot of what we encounter on a daily basis is americanised, if we really want to embrace true aussie culture, the last place we should be starting at is a fictional character. Just my view, but there it is!!! Oh and are we forgetting the true meaning of Christmas here??

Santa is heaps easier to say than Father Christmas and it's the name in all the songs so i can't see myself changing now, though you never know... The word 'Candy' drives me nuts, it's even on an ad now and i loose it when my kid (ok, so she's 14) says it. Anyway 49 Days or 7 Weeks to go  I Love Christmas
