| RSVP's Why is it that people will RSVP yes as soon as they receive an invite and then turn around and say that they are unable to attend 2 days before the event??!! This really pisses me off. I can understand when someone says I've got to work - especially when their work hours depend on the weather (beekeepers for an example) or when you've applied to have the time off and the boss doesn't give it to you. I understand those things.....i honestly do because i've been in that situation a couple of times. But when people have RSVP'd 3-4 weeks before the event and then contact me 3 days before saying that they can't come that really pisses me off!! Honestly, do people really think that everything gets paid for on the night?? NO, it doesnt. You need to pay a deposit on the room hire, a deposit on the food. And then you have to give final numbers to the venue so that they ensure that there is enough food to cater for everyone - hence the reason that there is a RSVP date - so that you can let the venue know how many to expect. My RSVP date was two weeks ago - i put a two week gap in there so that i could chase people i hadn't heard from - which i had to do!! It makes it even worse that I am paying for this party out of MY birthday money from my parents. So out of the money i'm getting as a present i'm spending about 65% on this party. Not to mention the money i've already spent out of my own pocket to ensure that this party is a good one. It's really rude to RSVP yes as soon as you receive the invite and then turn around 3 days before the event and say no, sorry i can't go. So, there it is - I'm pissed off!

| Re: RSVP's Big Unit - it wasn't the fact that i had to chase some people to know what they were doing, it's the fact that some people said that yes, they were coming and then turned around two days before the party and said that they couldn't attend. It's thrown me out a little bit with the budget aspect of things. Not to mention cutting back the numbers. And mix this issue in with everything else gone wrong and you've got one unhappy lil Gem!!

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: RSVP's Yeh Gem, people just don't get the effort required to organise an event that needs rsvp's. I always have a back up list, so if there is a problem with people pulling out at the last moment, not all is lost. Some people may think it's rude that if they weren't invited in the 1st place, then why should they attend just to make up numbers, but if you explain that it was a matter of numbers & cost, that you really wanted them there right from the beginning & that now that people you felt obliged to invite can't make it, you would love it if they could. They are usually pretty cool with that. Good luck with the party, I'll keep my fingers crossed for no rain!!
