Ute Mateship

As a new comer to the ute scene I must say that I am a little disappointed. I keep hearing all the time about the mateship between ute owners and how they stick together and help each other out, unfortunately I am yet to see evidence of this. One member had posted that he could do with a hand on his block, admittedly this was posted on the 18-8-07 and the site went down just after this, and he had had no response, which I found out on chat. So a couple of us did get down to his block to help him on Saturday. Then on Sunday another member had organised a WA ute get together, not a show, just all get together, meet some new and catch up with old mates, and only half a dozen utes turned up. Both days were a great day for those of us that did go along, shame that more decided not too. I keep hearing that there is not enough things organised, yet when someone tries to, so few show, it is no wonder that nobody bothers organising anything.

Come on people. prove me wrong!

In the future when someone asks for a hand or organises something how about showing that ute mateship that you all talk about!

I think you should read some of the old events thread ... a number of us hold differant events not musters and pub runs and other events my self and others have held meany events in the past i have held events for fly in fly out members (including the member with the blok you re refuring to and despite the fact that i do not work in fifo... ) simply becose they miss so meany events
also i had spoken to that member that needed a hand at his block meany weeks ago and was willing to help but as i had a 30th to go to i couldnt be there...

Yes Trashman I have read some of the old event threads, and as for the block I do understand that people do have good reasons for not being able to help.
Obviously I did not mean every one with a ute doesn't show mateship. Unfortunately I am finding that there are more and more people (ute or otherwise) that don't understand the true meaning of mates. I do not intend to offend those that do, simply hoping to wake up those that don't.

I can see your point Mickey and it happens everywhere... not just in the ute scene. I am guilty of over committing myself all the time so I can see how people get frustrated at no-shows.
