Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Deni Feedback 2009 Had a lot of fun, thought it was a lot quieter compared to previous years. the only downer for the weekend was when somebody stole our gas lantern. After going for a walk to see if we could find it I was very Dissapointed to hear that people all over the ute paddock had been terrorised by thieves. I realy hope that the Folks with the black 78 BRUMBY got all their flags back, also the the other young girl camped a couple rows over from us, I hope you got ya esky back. We had a stroke of luck, after stocking up on travellers and going for another walk we did find our gas lantern, although damaged we hope to be able to get the parts to fix it. If i go back next year i hope not to have stuff pinched again. It is a bit concerning.

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Deni Feedback 2009 My 2c worth........... This year was much like other Deni's in the past. It depends on the group you hook up with as to whether or not it will be fun or not. I'm still not happy with the fact that I couldn't see the main arena with all the vehicle/truck/machinery events. I'm friggin 5'3 and not built on stilts. Get some bleacher type seating arrangements with the front allowing for standing room. Like what the rodeo ring has. I'd like to have the paddock either decked out with speakers or a deni vehicle driving around, announcing and reminding folk of the next item on the agenda. For example, the rodeo. For example, the blue singlet count. NO ONE is going to pull out their time table whilst pissed and try to make out the time for these events/acts. The constant cold and rain did put a dampener on it and I stayed by our campsite most of the time, if not all the time. But that's just me, making the most out of natures ways...Not much anyone can do there... Powderfinger as the headline act for a bayside/beach muster, no probs but they is NOT what I'd classify as Aussie Country Rock. Aussie Rock, yes but not country. Their choice of songs were so lame, that back at the campsite I fell asleep to them. Our group was large 30 plus and most of them, all ages all backgrounds, were dissapointed with Powder being the headline act. I LOVE POWDERFINGER but not at Deni thanks ! Lots of people didn't think the $40 odd dollar hike in tickets was NOT worth what they got. My biggest beef is the dunny's, I WANT CLEANERS ON THE HOUR TO WASH/HOSE DOWN THE FLOORS AND KEEP CLEAN THE LOOS...No two if's or butts about it...I come from a family who are professional commercial and domestic cleaners and this is the biggest thing that lets Deni down. For Farks Sake, in the scheme of things it is a tiny cost for an important item. As for the food at Deni, I wouldn't care as we always cook our own shit, however greasy festival food is dismal and not Australian. About the only healthy thing there was the Spud van. Bring back fresh foods and good old aussie tucker... Re: Food, I'd like to see....... 1. Bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushys for breaky on a plate 2. Ploughmans lunch, bread, cheeses, meats and pickles 3. Healthy salads, plenty of variety, roasted vegies on da barbie I'm almost tempted to hire a portable trailer cooler, stock it with the above essentials, lock down kitchen cook mode like when we go on musters and prepare and sell (hrmm okay recieve donations) some good, wholesome, decent food off one of the main ute paddock isles toward the front of the show n shine area..... Regarding thefting at campsites, we always had one person present, tag teamed the role, tis the only way things don't go walkies without fully lock, stocking the campsite. Or if your group is a small one, join up and tag team with your neighbours if they're good enough. We had some young kids stroll around looking for an empty campsite till I asked em what they were up to...they realised quick smart and kept walking. And our campsite was locked in by utes the whole perimiter, all four sides of a square so to speak. |

the way that we see it is that Deni started country and should stay country ...... Powderfinger???? geez.... none of our group (17utes) went over to see them instead we had great ol drink and chinwag around the fire.... ![]() the big thing on 60minutes the other night is how it DENI is a break for the farmers and that Deni is a country event has been since 1999 if you want to see Powderfinger go to Big Day Out..... the city folk have this (big day out) let us have Deni we had utes egged, saw numerous fights, heard of utes damaged and having to lock everything up and tie things down ?????? never had to worry bout this before..... yes i know that there are bad eggs in each crowd but i have never in 6 years had a Deni like this ands searched going into the arena???? come on what a joke!!!!one thing was we did get a good laugh seeing the wannabe cowboys and the barbie dolls next thing ya know they will probably have cabins or hotels out at the paddock for them lol i am not too sure if i will be going next year thinking this may have been my last one there would need to be alot of improvement to get me or my mates there again..... decent music would be a start....... the way it is heading it will turn into another rave or what ever they call it ... it will be a shame as we always looked forward to deni it has alot of great memories for me and i have made great friends up there (who i sometimes only saw at Deni) sorry ya lost ya flag if we see or hear anything we will let ya know

| Re: Deni Feedback 2009 Sadly I missed out on deni this year due to work but will definately be going next year!! When I heard powderfinger was playing I was a bit surprised considering the ute muster is meant to be a country event!! 60 minutes also said it about be a country gathering for farmers etc etc, why the heck would you want powderfinger to play?? Hope you find your flag Carlie, will keep eyes and ears open for you!!

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Just want to say we had a great time catching up with mates old & new. But as for the music & the food...????? My sister & her friends all had the hot spuds & ended up spewing for the whole of friday night & no it wasnt from alcohol. They only had 2 drinks each. We were disappointed that as early risers we were unable to get a feed onsite till after 9am. Instead we had to drive into Deni.....The muster was a last minute decision for us..hence no BBQ supplies. We, like some others, sat by our camp fire as Powderfinger is soooo not our thing. Where's the country gone??? Bring in Steve Forde, Adam Brand, Gina Jeffreys....some one like these great aussie country singers. Overall I applaud the organisers for an excellent event...take a bow. ![]() |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: Deni Feedback 2009 Ok here we go I am a deni regular this year being my eighth year straight visit now I remember back in 2002 and a few of the previous years that followed when the head line acts were Lee Kernaghan, Brand, Kasey Chambers and the like but we do have to have variety like powderfinger but we keep seeing the same acts last year the reported amount of money made at deni was 12 million $ and as I have said on this web site before bring in the over seas acts i will be at deni again hopefully to see some of these over seas acts next year that probally being my last. I must say it is great to see some of the end of the bitumen ute mob in here having a go to i dont apreciate people coming in to our own camp area and knocking stuff off as our sign says "DONT ENTER THIS AREA IF YOUR INTENSIONS ARE OF AN UNSOCIABLE NATURE" Stay the hell out!!!!!!!!!!!
