| Southern X Ute Convoy Route Selection Ok since there are only a few days to go a decision has to be made which way the convoy, starting at Sizzlers in Kelmscott, will go. So only those who are going to be joining this convoy from the beginning or at some point along the way joining in please vote or make comments here. If you have comments in general please place them in the "Southern Cross Ute Convoy" thread at http://www.beaututes.com/convoy-cruise-archive/1255-southern-cross-ute-convoy.html Ok I have sat here for the past couple of hours working all this out so here are the two choices inlcuding approx times etc. Route 1 (approx 390 kms) Kelmscott (Sizzlers carpark) 0500 - 0530 hrs Westdale (Turnoff) 0623 hrs Beverley (main street at it goes through) 0655 hrs Mawson (junction of Mawson-Beverley & York-Quairding roads) 0720 hrs Quairading (main street as convoy goes through) 0740 hrs Bruce Rock (main street as convoy goes through) 0840 Merredin (Pick up point will be a parking bay heading out of town on right hand side. Some may need to refuel. There is a BP on the Hwy in the direction of travel so no need to deviate through town centre) 0920 - 0940 hrs Southern Cross 1055 hrs Route 2 (approx 382 kms) Kelmscott (Sizzlers carpark) 0500 - 0530 hrs Midland (pick up point behind Red Rooster next to Caltex left hand side of GE Hwy) 0606 - 0610 hrs Northam (via bypass) 0722 hrs Meckering (main street as convoy goes through) 0748 hrs Cunderdin (main street as convoy goes through) 0804 hrs Tammin (main street as convoy goes through) 0824 hrs Kellerberrin (main street as convoy goes through) 0844 hrs Doodlakine (main street as convoy goes through) 0857 hrs Hines Hill (main street as convoy goes through) 0911 hrs Merredin (Pick up point will be a parking bay heading out of town on right hand side. Some may need to refuel. There is a BP on the Hwy in the direction of travel so no need to deviate through town centre) 0926 - 0946 hrs Southern Cross 1111 hrs Radio: UHF Channel 28. If you havn't got one, borrow one. Having problems getting one ring or SMS me on 0418 930 351 or post on this thread and I will bring my spare hand helds. Fuel Stops: If anybody needs to stop for fuel along the way before reaching Merredin please get on the radio and let the convoy know about 5kms before the town. The convoy will then stop and wait. Speed Limits: We will be responsible and stick to the designated speed limits. That includes and roadwork sites we may encounter along the way. Save your energy and ute for the circle work at Southern x. We don't need to blow any diffs, gearboxes etc along the way.

Its worth leaving a bit early ![]()

| Re: Southern X Ute Convoy Route Selection To those who say it won't take 6 hours I agree, I have done it in less myself and confess I was not doing the speed limit. (Yes the Datsun does go faster than 100 km/hr.) The times were taken from Travelmate.com site as I did not have that much time to work it out. It also takes into consideration the pick ups. The fact that so far every convoy that has been arranged has never left on time has been taken into consideration too! I was also making sure we got there with room to spare in case there is a queue like there was at Beverley. Now I am gonna spit the dummy a bit here too! I have just got in from work and it is now 0830 hrs. I have to go to bed in a min and try and get me usual 7 hrs sleep. Upon waking I have a few business issues and a few other bits to squish into an hour and then it is out the door to start and hour early than usual to pack a ute up for a bloody big detour I will have to put in place for part of the night works that we are doing the traffic control for on Leach Hwy. I will be lucky to get home tomorrow morning before 0700 hrs. Oh and I also have a cold!!! So believe when I say that right at this minute I don't have time for this and I don't really care which way the convoy goes or if it even happens. I am quite use to travelling in a convoy of one.
