XMAS CHEER

Just wondering what, if anything, people do to try and help spread xmas cheer and spirit? I don't just mean to family and friends but to complete strangers.

This year I don't really feel like xmas (can't afford decent gifts at the moment), never the less, I am still trying to get into it.

For the last 2 years we have been decorating our front yard, lights, santa etc, slowly adding to it, but it's nice to watch people stop as they are driving or walking past. Make sure that I attend at least one carols by candlelight each year (daughter sings in the choir for big one in Perth). Ute show we went to on the weekend Choppa and Yobo both drove in convoy wearing santa suits, should have seen the looks

. While myself, my daughter, St Susie and her daughter all wore red cowboy style hats with white fur trim around the brim. Once at the show Choppa rode around on a gopher handing out candy canes.

Also make sure that I buy gifts and get a couple of tags off the Kmart Wishing Tree, this year have bought one for a little kid and one for a grandparent, have been doing this for several years now.

Even though I can't really afford it this year I have still done it, why, because it makes me feel good to know that my gift could make all the difference to someone who could otherwise not receive anything.

After all, isn't this what Christmas is truly all about.

i try to be happy even though im not keen on xmas anymore its for kids since i dont have any i try to be happy another excuse to get into the rum and be mellow and drown my sorrows in rum

not exactly the kind of xmas cheer i'm after ron, more interested in knowing what people do for complete strangers for xmas to bring a smile to their face and to your own

Well, first of all Mickey, your family's front yard looks great :-)
At work we have different people that come in that we dont see as often as others, but I wish not just them, but most people I see a Happy & safe Xmas & new year, I find it normally puts a smile on their face, & that alone makes it all worthwhile. I think if you can make at least 1 person smile each day then life is worth living. A smile is contagous.

well they're not exactly strangers cos its a small town...but i tell all the old ladies that they seem to look younger every christmas and they seem to get a kick out of it... usually the conversation finishes with them saying 'you've made my day', which is nice.
