What dB are you getting in your Ute?

G'day

I'm just wondering what numbers are being reached? below are a couple of questions and it would be great to see a few replies of what others are doing.

What is your best dB to date?

How was this measured, on a termlab or a different way?

Was this during a comp or test/tuning, if it was a comp which one and when?

If known what class do you run in comp?

What equipment are you using at the moment and do you plan on upgrading?

This is just a bit of fun and so that people who like sound systems can find out who else is into it and what they are achieving.

Dean.

Re: What dB are you getting in your Ute?

G'day

Well seems no one has a sound system then? lol I know thats not true so how come no one has replied yet?

Still in the middle of my install but today there was some testing done on a TL pro with the following results.

Ended up getting 138.1db @45hz

Spent ages in testing and found somthing a bit strange!!!....

With the DRIVERS door open it hit 141.9db but with the passangers door open instead of the drivers side it dropped to 135.somthing lol

Taking the huge port out this weekend and painting it then taking a break and the sound system should be in and finished by the end of the first week in 2008.

After the sound system the body work will be done as at the same time the motor will be rebuilt, then the rest of the wiring (non sound related) will be cleaned up along with the engine bay.

So what dB have you gotten during comp or testing? let us know, I.C.E is going to be big in the ute scene over the next few years so lets get some numbers posted now and we can look back in a couple years and see how far things have come.

Dean.

Re: What dB are you getting in your Ute?

G'day Chris

I used to use a lot of Rockford stuff (about 10-12 years ago) and I loved it, maybe it was just in my mind but I always thought it to be robust and could stand a lot of abuse.

Is the Alpine head unit a flip out monitor and if so does that mean you have a double din set up?

Would love to see some pics of your ute mate so I'm about to go check out Jan street and see what pics are there, congrats on the win too!

Hey one last thing, do you have the tray ported into the cab?

I have just finished putting the sealer on my port about one hour ago so I can paint it tomorrow, it's about 1.2m wide by around 25cm high.

The 6 subs are Sony XSL122P5 rated at 380rms (paid $120each)
The 3 amps are Sony xm-ds1600p5 rated at 900rms @ 2ohms (paid $700 for 3)

I like these amps because they are internally wired parallel so you can run two 4ohms subs off one amp.

Anyway once the system is fully in I will be doing a post with pics and all that so I will save the book sized post until then lol

Dean.

Re: What dB are you getting in your Ute?

I had always been a big fan of Pioneer, hence the different set up between the tray and the cab. A mate who works for a car audio place hooked me up with the Rockford stuff and it's awesome. Bloody expensive but you get "bang for your buck" out of it. The whole cabin install set me back about 5k.

The dvd is a flip out, double din set up.

No porting from the tray to the cab just yet, at the moment it's more of a show thing. I've gone for good sound sound quality in the cab, where as in the tray i've just tried to get "loud".

Now it's all in i'm looking at cleaning it up, i'll get some pics up when thats done.

Your set up sounds awesome
