Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Burials or Cremation? Hey all, I was just thinking of this recently. What is your belief or what would you prefer for yourself once you have passed on? I myself have been brought up with the belief that you come from the earth and so therefore when you pass on you should return to the earth. My mum gave me belief and she hates the thought of cremation and yet my dad would rather be cremated than buried lol. So what are your thoughts on the matter?

We are all keen fisher people so the ocean seems be the appropriate place for the ashes. The kids have all been told that the "wake" is an excuse for a party (BBQ if weather permitting) so they are to dress for the occassion and as funerals tend to be almost family reunions then cameras are required. (I am into family history so taking lots of photos at family events is a must). My in laws think I'm weird and that funerals should be sad and reflective, but I say they can be both if that is what you wish. The service part can be sad but then lets party!!

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Burials or Cremation? I've told all my family that firstly I am an organ donor, take whatever is good and useful to someone else cause I will no longer need it. Then my body is to be left to science, if it can help anyone else then that is fantastic. When everyone is finished picking over it I want to be buried, just not real keen on being burnt - dead or alive.

| Re: Burials or Cremation? Oneway or another dosn't really worry me.Would rather be cremated,as i think cemetries are a wast of space. And somewhere down the track they will probably build houses over you anyway..

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Burials or Cremation? Me and the wife are both gunna be burnt and who ever goes first will be stored till the other one has finished. Then the kids will place us together and we will be tipped out together. We will be tipped out by what is called Pump Hill or they will hire a boat and drop us in the river close to home. Sounds a little corny but this is what we want. |

| Re: Burials or Cremation? This is always an interesting topic, My husband delivers coffins into funeral homes for a living so this topic generally comes up fairly often. We both would like to be burried, both our families know this as well and will hopefully respect this when the time comes. I hope people make it really clear in what they want to happen to them as these wishes (sometimes) arent always carried out at the time when familes are grieving. | |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Burials or Cremation? This is a good subject because a lot of ppl don't like to face the thought of death but it is inevitable. I have found it easier to talk to the family now as there are families that don't know the wishes of deceased and wish they had've spoken about it. I wish to be buried although i understand what ppl are saying about taking up good land and that buildings may be built on the land later. Some times there is a problem when looking for family history when cremated as there is no grave to get dates from, we'll hope that good records are kept for those left behind. A party is a great idea to, have been to a celebration and although it was unusual was very pleasant. Go for it...
