Saddest/Most Desperate thing you've done for a smoke?

Tonight I reached a low point.
After having a shithole of a day, I went for a drive to Lake Dumbelyung... Got there, went to light up, and realised my lighter was nowhere in sight...
So, instead of just driving home (30kms), I drove the EXTRA 10kms to Dumbleyung, pulled in at the roadhouse and bought a $2.20 lighter... Then drove the 40kms back home again.
Sad, no?

So what's been the low point of your smoking career?

Probably when I was a teenager, was at a mates farm in the shearing shed, picking up 1-2 year old ciggy butts and smoking them, cause we were so desperate for a fag! Now that is sad!

Re: Saddest/Most Desperate thing you've done for a smoke?

Umm its funny but all i get is angry, and i been smoking since before i could walk (my grandad always reconned smoking never killed anyone, i spose if you where born in 1890 you would too, he died in 1972)...I shall blame him for gettin me smoking...i'm in the process of quitting now...
But i have seen ppl pull old butts out of the ash tray and strip them, then roll a new smoke...yukkkk....
My son doesnt like my attitude if i run out and i know i get a lil grumpy...

The worse time of running out, that i can remember was leaving Perth for Adelaide, and forgot money and smokes...ok truck had more than enough fuel to get to adelaide and back, but i had about 15 smokes and had no way of getting any(i was a chain smoker then too)...well you can guess the first place i went to when i got to Adelaide, yes the local roadhouse that i had an account with...lol...and they laughed when i ripped open a pack and lit the smoke(this was before it got banned in buildings)...Funny thing was, lack of food meant jack, it was the lack of smokes that really had me....rofl

I was probably smoking close on 3 packets of B&H 25's a day then....

Re: Saddest/Most Desperate thing you've done for a smoke?

To many it seems distusting & pathetic for us smokers to rumage around picking up old ciggies..but remember...it's a drug... heroin & crack addicts do much worse for a fix.

I never go anywhere without my ciggies.

Back in the '80s when I had little care of what ppl thought, I used to scab smokes off other ppl..."Scuse me sir, can I get a ciggy off you?" or... "Scuse me, can you give me 50c for some smokes?"
