| I often wonder what my folks think of my achievements..or lack of them. I know they love me, but are they 'Proud' of me?So, I asked them... and it brought up a well of emotions in both of us. I may not be the perfect daughter, but apparently they're proud of me regardless. What do you think your parents are proud of in you? |

| Re: What Have You Done To Make Your Parents Proud well i just wrote a big spiel here & then got logged out so it didnt post! basically my parents told me not long ago that they are proud that i actually finished high school (first one in the family to do it in one go, the old girl repeated yr 11), that i dragged my butt off to tafe and got a qualification, that i landed a decent job & that i managed to move out of home at 17 and havent once come crawling back broke (unlike a certain sibling of mine! lol)

| Re: What Have You Done To Make Your Parents Proud yep, what dray said. although i nearly chucked it all in when dad died but then thought that maybe he would be proud if i finished my apprenticeship and all that stuff. so i did. it makes you feel good i think when your parents brag about you and they don't know that you're listening. then you kinda know that they are proud. | |

| Re: What Have You Done To Make Your Parents Proud I reckon my mum n dad are proud of the fact that i have gone out and despite flunking a tafe course have now got an awesome job that i can go a long way with. And i know for a fact that that they were pretty chuffed when i won Rural ambassador for the Albany Region in 2004/05 and got to go to zone finals coz my mum started crying and thats unusual for my mum. | |

| Re: What Have You Done To Make Your Parents Proud All great achievements girls...well done! One of the things the old girl said she was proud of was my domestic abilities!!! LOL... apparently 'I' put her to shame?! Sheesh.... that's something coming from her. There were other things..but too miniscule to mention. It's just nice to know you are appreciated. ![]() |

I think it is aload of crap trying to please your parents, I myself have been in this situation for most of my life, have heard from my parents the saying first hand "Make us proud of you" a million times. I kind of feel kids dont need that kindof pressure from parents, it can lead to bad things such as feelings of failure, even suicide and so forth. How many times can you make your parents proud? All I will ever say to my children is "Do your best and try hard" I will never put pressure on them. I will be proud of them for who they are, not what they have achieved in life. I even hear it now when my parents tell their grandkids make us proud of you, and it sickens me! Kids dont need that kind of pressure.
