| we have never had the traditional turkey with all the trimmings in our family. too hard, too hot. everyone just brings a salad or a dessert and every two years we take it in turns as to where it is being held and who does the main part of it. this year i did some stuff for xmas eve at my little bro's place. really simple marinated seafood, little smoked salmon thingys, some kickass ham and some salads. apparently i way impressed little bro's soon to be in laws so that's cool. do you have the whole traditional hot lunch? | |

| Re: what did you have for xmas lunch? nothing special for lunch. dinner was special though, we normally have a chicken and i think we only once ever had a turkey. This year was great though. one of my favourites, Fondue. for those unfamiliar with what it is it's a pan in the centre of the table with oil and a metho burner underneath, you get a long fork on which you put meat like chicken, pork, meat balls, and mince meat wrapped in prociuto ham*drools* you place one item on your fork and place it in the hot oil until its properly cooked you can then eat your small piece with special dipping sauces. in our family we normally serve salads as side dishes. but its really a long dinner can last up to 2 hours but then by the end you're so full.-then comes dessert!

LOL... nah, just the easy way and a whole lot less mucking around. It was a cold spread of chicken, ham, salad, bacon rolls, hot sausage rolls, and then ALL the desserts...ie: xmas pud, fruit mince pies(yuk),xmas cake and my fave....PAVLOVA!!!!! JOY! ![]() |

I had to work Xmas Eve and didn't get home until 8am Chrissy Day.. so I slept until 1pm.. then staggered out of bed and made myself Cheese and Vegemite Toasted Sangers. No expense spared here. I even washed it down with a lovely can of fully imported Pepsi Max. Live life to the full I say.!! ![]() |
