S.W.Platt bullbars?

Im looking at getting a bar from these guys in a few weeks. I got the dollars but havent got the time to duck out to orange to have a look at them. The pictures i got looks great. I just want some opinions about the quality of these bars and any experiences they have had with them.

Re: S.W.Platt bullbars?

i agree, ive got one and they are great, welds are damn perfect and they take the extra time getting the bar all hooked up right and looking the way it should. they are also airbag rated (helps with insurance on ya ute) ive hit roos and wombats with mine and it still held up. they also freight the bars out - a friend of mine lives in NT and they freighted it to him for under $200 - we took it to a local bloke and got it all done. Im from vic and drove to them. They dont have a show room and bars just sitting on racks, small little workshop and build the bars on order.

Re: S.W.Platt bullbars?

i wouldnt worry bout going to see them. If ya have done ya research on the bar ya want just order it and save ya self the trip. little piece of advice - when ya do get it put on, leave room in ute for front bumper. i came up from vic and had a bit of holiday with the mrs, loaded the ute up, cut a few rounds round bathurst etc... and once bar went on i friggen struggled to load the bumper in the back.

I thought they cut the bumper bar to make the bar fit on?

Re: S.W.Platt bullbars?

hey Brett.
my partner has a BA RTV and hes got a Platts bar. In order to mount it though, they had to cut most of the front bumper off, so he bought another bumper so that if he needs to take the bar off, he can have a full bumper on the ute.
He isnt happy with the bar. He's a boilermaker by trade and says that the welds are s**t. He also isnt happy with the way that they mounted it, apparently they cut away some of the plastic guards underneath and dont look too flash now. They also had to cut the wheel arch flares back to be able to fit the bar on. He took the bar off once (coz of a certain copper) and one the flares broke coz it had been cut back.

Just a few things to think about, but good luck with ya bullbar search

Re: S.W.Platt bullbars?

yep thats right for the VS, a mate of mine has got one and i checked with him today. its the same deal as my AU. Front bumper comes off and bar mounts straight on, easy. and ya have ya front bumper untouched. no cutting wheel wells etc.. - awesome qual job like every platt bar ive seen

Re: S.W.Platt bullbars?

Geeze. looks like everyone but my partner has a good Platts Bar lol. And you've all had good dealings with them too, maybe my partner was just unlucky?

Even when we went to pick the bar up (he drove from Robinvale, which is near Mildura, to Orange) they hadn't even finiched it. They were still painting it with that anti-glare stuff so he ended up having to stay in Orange overnight. They also didn't allow him to view the bar before they fitted it, he said that if he had gotten the chance to see it before it was fitted he wouldnt have bought it!

But as of yet he hasnt seen any other platt bars that have dodgy welds or utes that have had bits cut away so that the bar moun
