Bullbars... please help

Ino that there is heaps of posts like this already. But i do have to know.
I am doing an assignment and have to do a talk on an issue. I have chosen my issue to be how bullbars are illegal on utes.
I beleive that the 5 posters are illegal in W.A but i kinda need to no what the everything else is aswell..
Like, why they are illegal, whats legal, and some stuff like that?
Would you guys be able to give me a little bit of help of what is legal and illegal..

If you go to www.dpi.wa.gov.au and look around in there you will find some stuff.

Re: Bullbars... please help

Good luck with this one. Just make sure you aren't biting off more than you can chew because it is a very complex issue and I'm not sure anyone knows the do's and don'ts to bullbars.

I currently have a mate having some bullbar issues. I think he has been to the pits on 3 seperate occassions (on the same yellow sticker) waiting for someone to make a decision if his bar is legal or not. Its the same bar as 1BADXR8, 1BADSS and the uteshed ute for those of you who know those vehicles. He has already been told that it is legal because it is a 3 poster not a 5 but their stance now is that 'it looks aggressive'. It would be ok if it was on another make of car just not a commodore ute!! Go figure!

Re: Bullbars... please help

5 post bullbars ARE NOT ILLEGAL that is the first and most important point
bullbar must shape to the basic contour of the body line
bullbar must not sit higher than the highest point of the bonnet
bullbar must sit no lower to the ground than 100mm with all passengers and a full tank of fuel in board.
bullbar must not protrude more than 200mm forward of the forward most point of the vehicle
bullbar must have no sharp protrusions
bullbar must have 5mm radiused edges on the end posts (and preferably on all posts.)
bullbar must not lean forward, and preferably lean back (how dumb is that) UNLESS the front of the vehicle leans forward, namely HQ to HZ holden

and lastly if your vehicle is fitted with airbag sensors under the front end (namely series 1 and 2 au's and dunnydoors, your BA's and series three AU's have the sensors under the centre console)

Re: Bullbars... please help

Well here is a bit of an update. Irvin have removed their feral 3 poster from sale because of the issues that people are having with DPI with them... It's going to be interesting to see the outcome!
