| Just thought i would post a new thread on this subject after seeing BU member Lonewolf_2800 destroy the front of his AU XR8 yesterday at waroona, due to a badly designed bullbar. Seems Irvin does not weld their mounting brackets on correctly and at a low speed impact (under 20 kp/h) with a rock, it bent and mangled the brackets, sheared the bolt heads off etc. end result $$$$ damage (nose cone stuffed, 2 front fenders rooted). So who here has also had their utes damaged by stupidly designed bullbars | |

| Re: Badly Designed Bullbars so I stress again, this is why i run my oversized steel bar on all my utes. It has copped and absolute hammering over the years, and is still in perfect condition it has never shifted (although i did bend it off once, but that was due to a rusted out chassis on the Feral HZ). Now just thinking back to the impact wolfy had with a small rock at 20 kp/h, one can only wonder what would have happened if it had straddled a roo carcass at 130 kp/h hmmmmmmm. We will be seeing irvin during the week, to discuss and hopefully get some sort of resolve about the damage done due to shoddy design. | |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Badly Designed Bullbars Heard a couple stories about utes being fitted with bull bars that are so strong (not talking normal five-posters) and on impact, with trees, rocks, kangaroos etc it results in a fractured or bent chassis. can see what your saying about design flaws when something rips the mounts at less then 20kph, but sometimes bars that are too big can cause more damage, not only to the vehicle but the driver/passenger aswell.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: Badly Designed Bullbars i spoke to irvin bullbars today the have quoted me 350 bucks for them to replace the mounting bracket and fix the bent suport on the bullbar and they wont be able to strengthen it anumore then it is and he also said it common for the feral 3 poster to come back for repairs due to the bar bending the rackets up from hitting roos but mine was the first he has seen bend down so now i am getting a new bar made up by truckabar so irvins bars that was a $2000 dollar mistake!!!!! |

| Re: Badly Designed Bullbars YEah i think irvin have there faults. It happend to a mate once who rear ended a car in front, it spun on the brackets and creased his two fenders and the C channel was rubbing on the tyres. A month ago i was waiting at lights in Perth when the bloke in one of those Falcon RTV's ran up the bac of a truck. Exactly the same thing happend. | |
