Irvin Bullbars WA

Well today my baby got her bar finally. It's an Irvin feral bar (3 poster, air bag compatible) Unfortunatly it is not exactly what I wanted due to the fact that whoever I first spoke to at Irvin gave me alot of incorrect information.
Firstly though they had actually made the wrong bar and were in the process of painting the bumper piece the wrong colour! So they had to restart it and this of course meant waiting another 5 days. It arrived this morning with a very dodgy paint job on the bumper piece (which also has what looks like stone damage on it) and no where for my driving lights to come through. When I rang to find out what was going on I was told that to have your driving lights in the bumper you need to cut your own bumper to fit and they have clips to attach it but the mounts would have to be altered. And they didn't tell me this when I asked about it on the phone because??? The bumper is not actually the shape of the crewman bumper (just a standard commodore bumper) although I was told that it would be. So it doesn't really follow the line of the vehicle. When they painted the back of the bar black they also went for a dalmation look on the front so that had to be polished off.
When I first called about the lights *Fred* tells me he hasn't had anything to do with my bar so *Tom* will have to call me back. 30mins later I called *Tom* and he hadn't received my message and assured me that *Fred* was the one who had dealt with my bar.
At the end of the day if my dad was not a bar manufacturer and couldn't help me fix their shoddy work I would have been left in the lurch (and they would have got their bar back!)
Unfortunatly, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an airbag compatible bar to shop over east, it's a shame, but not only will you get a shoddy job on your bar but no attempt to fix your problems will be made if you buy from Irvin.

They also asked if I had had a bloke look at it when I told them I was fitting it myself!!!!!!!!!!

Goin' to have a boast too... Irvin say the feral is a 6hr fit but I did it in 3 1/2 today with smoke breaks!

Thats a shame to hear about the probs you had, I would not have accepted it at all! Why did you just tell them its not what you wanted or send it back?

Yes, I too would reccomend shopping over East for a decent bullbar, if I could afford it, I would get a Sickpuppy 5 poster.

Well I hope maybe people will reconsider getting bullbars through Irwin Bullbars, I hate shoddy workmanship! That too right sucks!

Thats right off being so shoddy?, I was only reading one of their adds at work today so you have saved me the bother of checking them out!Well done with the fit, the result must look good though?

I vow never to buy an irvin ever, seein as they seem to be the w@#%ers tryin to stop 5posters along with the Dpi in WA, there bars dont comply with what the coppers say anyway even though they claim to have ADR pass an airbag mounts, stuff em i reckon, get one from east or support truckabar here in perth or try the boys at smiths in albany. Sorry billy but thought i should jus set it straight with regards to that. Me mate also got a yellow sticker in cunderdin on sat night for his bullbar on his VS SS, it use to be a 5poster but he had the middle post removed and the copper who a few people would know who he was said tough mate tell the boys at the pits, so me mate gave him an ear bashin an asked if that was all cause he was wastin his time an had to be somewhere.

Smith's is my dad Emu!! He doesn't make airbag compatible bars unfortunatly that's why I had to get an Irvin.

RDG- great to meet you too mate, will catch you round I'm sure.

Good to have mates like Lloydie at Pearson's Spraypainters to fix the paint job on the bumper!!

God dam i know we spoke on the phone but bloody hell what a stuff up! Told ya to buy one from over east, even though i'm a big fan of supporting WA.

BILLY, another good web site for bars is www.bnsgear.com.au
Similar to the Sick puppy just a bit neater i reckon and heaps cheaper to!

The bars on bnsgear all have posts on the outer edge so wouldn't last 5 minutes on WA roads.

East Coast Bullbars do airbag compatible bars but I didn't like any of them.

I love this arguement!! If the outer post on a 5 poster being ridgid is illegal how come an outer post on a 4 poster is fine! Trucks also have poster bars but apparently they are excluded because they weigh in over the 4.5 ton mark but light commercials trucks don't and they get away with it.

I actually went into the local cop shop and asked them about 5 oosters and was told ' by a copper that they can't touch us because the state government haven't passed any laws as yet saying they are illegal '

Me personally i reckon tell them to go to buggery, what ever happened to the ' go hard or go home ' attitude?
