Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

my 5 poster has saved me 5 times from large kangaroos and a previous 4 poster stoped my car from killing me when my brakes failed and slamed front first in to a tree on a gravel road T junction. but they've (police) given me enough trouble today i cut down my 5poster and turned it in to a 3poster

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

thats it maybe if people can have some input on this thread on how a bullbar that they now prepose illegal has saved there lives in some way buy it being youre own bullbar or in a ute with someone else. maybe they could print out this thread or look at it and realise how important it is to us all over the country and not just in the west!!!

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

yep, definately, was following a sparky's van home on the pacific mwy southbound one day when his ladder came off the roof (ever hear of occy straps mate) and hit the road and bounced up and hit my bar, had it not been there, or been one of those backward sloping ones, the ladder would have come along the bonnet, through the windscreen and given me one hell of a headache!

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

g'day
yeah not long ago i hit a boomer at about 110 in the middle of the night. as my bull bar is quite big it saved my mate in the passenger seat as he was write in the middle of the firing line. but instead my bar just pushed the roo off to the side but it also ripped my bullbar mounts out through the side of the chassis. thats how hard it hit.
cheers.

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

Mine's saved me more times than I care to remember. Most recently, it was a grey boomer on the way back to the farm, I was doin a bit under 105 when I hit him, cos the mongrel came outta nowhere. Still hit the bonnet and did a bitta damage, but if it hadn't been there, I sure as hell wouldn't have walked outta it. And last year, on me old ute, I hit a bull on me way down from the station, at night, lights on low due to oncomin traffic, didn't see him till it was way too late. hit doin, maybe 70. killed the bull, but didn't damage me or the vehicle. I couldn't believe it ey. Thats why I don't want to cut mine back.

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

I haven't had on save my life so far, but I've talkted to so many people who's bullbars have saved their lives, it just aint funny. My worst experience so far was a glancing blow on the front left of the bonnet in my little gemini. It was at night, had my lights dimmed and hit it at 80k's. As I said, glancing blow, and it crumpled the front left quarter panel, destroyed the lights and grill, and bent the radiator housing back, buckling the bonnet. Nevermind if I had been going any faster, if I had hit it square on I would have been buggered, with the front end of the car destroyed, that is if the roo didn't come up and join me in the car via the front windscreen. I now have a little budgie bar on the front of the car, it won't do anything but it makes me feel a bit better, and I won't ever own a vehicle without a decent bullbar again.

Re: has your bullbar saved your life?

my brother hit a cow that was nicely wandering across the road. bullbar ended up making the bonnet of the ute look a bit like a crushed can and the guy that owned the silly animal threatened little brother with legal action. he wouldn't be walking too well if at all if the bullbar hadn't been there.
