Re: Rural Suicide & Depression

i believe i have had depression, last year was a very tough year for me as my father left in january and my parents were doin the on again off again crap. i didn't talk to my father for almost a year which really affected me and i aslo missed a heap of school. i also found out who my true friends were, after i had not been at school for 2 weeks only 2 had rung me to see what was wrong but i also strengthened some of my family bonds especially with my uncle we started spending a lot of time together and that helped me.

so anybody else who is suffering with depresion seek help or even just talk to us members i am sure we will all try to make you feel better

and remember if you are depressed dont think of yourself as weak it is nothing to be ashamed of

anyway thats my speel

Re: Rural Suicide & Depression

Yeah i have had the agony of finding a really good mate hanging from a tree when i went to his place to visit one day, wasn't too good. It really frustrated me that he was in the mentality that there was no help for him, when in fact there was. Blokes like him find it hard to talk and think it's a sign of weakness to do so, I rekon the only weak thing about it is leaving all those who love you behind to pick up the pieces!!!

Re: Rural Suicide & Depression

I've lost a few friends to suicide including my brother....
I went thru a real bad spot about 5 yrs ago, and nearly topped myself then, i survived and got help, it was because of my kids that i seeked help and knowing what my mother went thru also helped me look....
I have had a hard road to travel since then and done a few other things that made it harder....but the hardest was to admit to ppl that i was in a violent relationship, even mum didnt believe me until she got thrown off a set of stairs, i really wish she never experienced that but it did make her realise what i had gone thru...
It is quite a lonely feeling when things get that bad, and the best thing people can do for each other is talk...i have talked to my friends when things where bad, hoping that by just lending an ear could help, i now know it does, and had some very good friends around me....
Now i have a lot of great friends around me and hope never to get that bad again...especially for the sake of my friends and family that dont need to go thru that hell...
Just to add, a friend of mine committed suicide only a couple of weeks ago...it has hit mum and myself hard but life does go on....

Re: Rural Suicide & Depression

At the begining of this year and at christmas time i was at my lowest, but i found that i couldn't talk to anyone coz they only wanted to talk about themselves. My problem was mainly to do with my job and low finances, Family issues and low self esteem by being put down by others. My partner didn't understand that i was on the verge of a mental breakdown and even now a few times where i just burst out in tears for no reason, or get very frustrated over the littlest things, even had developed a very short temper. I am now talking to a friend who herself has had similar problems. It's good to be able to talk to someone who knows what you are going through and can give you advice, her quote to me was "take it one step and one day at a time."

FOR ANYTHING YOU MUST FEEL LOVED SHAME MATTY...
SHAME WE FELT THOSE THAT BEFORE SUCH CIRCUMSTANCE WE DID NOT OFFER SUPPORT HIM To WHICH IT UNDERGOES.......WE ARE EGOISTIC And SINGLE WE CAN ENTERDER The OTHER PEOPLE'S PAIN WHEN WE LIVED IT... WHICHEVER IT COSTS TO OFFER A CLEAN And PURE LOVE To US To a STRANGER! WE PREFERRED TO OFFER A CIGARETTE, Or A TIN OF BEER......
I HAVE A COUSIN WHO To OFTEN THOUGHT TO DIE....... BUT, LOVE, LOVE Ý MORE LOVE, THE ONE OF the HUMANS... that ALWAYS DOES NOT HAVE ITS FAULTS, I I MAINLY SPEAK Of the LOVE LOVE, PERFECT LOVE BECAUSE HE IS FULL OF an INFINITE TENDERNESS, and THAT IS the LOVE DE GOD.......sin HE NOTHING CAN, NOTHING LOGRÁ, NOTHING SAFE.....y MY COUSIN and the REST OF the FAMILY WE LIVED PATCHES LIKE GARRAPATAS To OUR GOD, NOT TO DESPISE the LIFE THAT HE HAS GIVEN to US, THANKS To ITS INFINITE KINDNESS. TO LIVE IS A CHALLENGE, A DON.......aceptemos =(IT ACCEPTS)
CHALLENGE And AGRADESCAMOS=(IT IS THANKFUL)

Re: Rural Suicide & Depression

yes i suffer from depresion think it all started when dad died in 2000 but never felt like i could talk about it too any one but finally got help last yr and got put on meds after i lost a baby late last year and just as i stated to feel better and stop taking my tablets all this happened with my knee i have felt so alone through all of it and have really opened my eyes to who my real friends are cos when you cant do anything or go anywhere its surprissing how few people have actually came around to offer help or even just to visit so after 2 weeks of being issolated and feeling alone i have now had to go back on anti depresants but i still find it hard to talk to people cos they are so wrapped up in themselves and there lives but i do know that alot of my so called friends will be shocked when i stop talking to them and listening to them.
But rather than finding my true friends and someone to talk things through with i just found out that the people you think will be there arent and i guess true friends are hard to find so if you find one dont let them go.
