I thought I might chuck up yet another rant!
My view of the real no holds barred reason for the decline in ute muster attendees!

I put this all down to moral decay!

Years ago when I started doing the ute rounds, people that attended ute musters were genuine car enthusiasts in the same way you would enter a hot rod show if your a hot rod enthusiast or take part in drifting if your an import enthusiast
People would gather round at ute shows, show each other the modifications they have performed on the utes, talk about their utes, gather ideas, and pass on knowledge. As any other car enthusiast would.
However with every new ute show season, more and more people come along, alot of these people have no idea about their ute, or the heritage behind the good old aussie hay hauler. The true ute enthusiasts slowly one by one can see what is really happening around them and give up.. they find other hobbies, while year after year more and more uninformed and un motivated people join up!
The ultimate result is what we are now seeing, There is now only a tiny handful (in wa anyway) of true enthusiasts who go for the love of their car, the majority that are left now are people that although they slap on a few stickers, cut out their mufflers, and chuck on a bullbar completely miss the point on what ute ownership is really all about.
This new crop of ute musterers now go out of their way to rubbish and bitch about so and so's ute, and how dare such and such does whatever he/she does to their ute, the reason behind this, is pure jealousy and inability to carry out proffesional and pleasing modifications to their rides.
And so therefore the bitch fight begins. Yes some bitching is around in any car scene, but I have never seen anything quite like this.
It is as if every one has to conform to some kind of derelict standard, or else they become the topic of quite mean alcohol fuelled bullshit... which leads me on to my next point
ALCOHOLISM,
Gone are the days you would bring a carton of rum/beer or whatever to a muster and share a few with your mates, yeah you'd get pissed, but now people are gettin way beyond that.
now it is simply a competition in how much alcohol you can handle, how much you can bring with you, and how much you can drink.. It is quite scary seeing a number of alcoholics on the ute scene now, What has happened with the utes is now also turned into a competition with the booze, where if you can only drink one carton!! your labelled a pussy, but if your like such and such and can handle 2 cartons, and a bottle of rum,and still manage to cut up then your a f$%king hero!

THE UTE SCENE IS SO FAKE, THE NEW CROP OF UTE MUSTERERS ARE NOTHING BUT FAKE TRY HARDS, THAT HAVE NOTHING ELSE IN THEIR LIFE OTHER THAN MAKING TROUBLE AND WHINGING AND BITCHING WHILE GETTING AROUND IN POORLY MODIFIED CARS... BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TRUE ENTHUSISTS!!

and that ladies and gentlemen is whats known as:
SOCIAL AND MORAL DECAY
